We pull into the spacious parking lot of the resort a few hours later. I got the back seat for the rest of the trip and for that, I will be forever grateful. Bree wasn't too happy, but hey, that's what you get for gloating.

Lottie and Ember are impatiently wiggling in their seats, eager to escape the confines of their car seats. Bree practically broke the door open the minute we stopped, obviously glad to be rid of the two devious little girls.

The resort is surrounded by hundreds of enormous pine trees, each on bigger than the next. They're all in neat rows, as if planted with deliberate precision. It's hard to believe they just grow like that. I turn my attention towards a large log building. The main lodge most likely.

"Diana, why don't you take Lottie and Ember to the restroom, the girls and I will get checked in." my dad says, helping Ember out of her seat.

"Alright, come on girls. Potty break." my mother says, holding out her hands for either girl to take.

My dad, Bree and I head up the stairs of the extravagant building, and enter the large lobby area. I'm immediately greeted by a pleasant woodsy smell, reminding me of the days when I would spend any possible moment I had out in the forest by our house. Those were the simpler days when I didn't have two rampant three-year-olds running about.

Of course I love them to bits, but they are rather devilish. I can't wait to see what happens when one of them has their first break-up. I pity the boy who will be so unfortunate as to get on one of their bad sides.

A lady in her mid-forties sits behind the front desk, typing away at her computer. She looks up as my dad approaches, a practiced smile on her face.

"Hello there, what can I do for you all?" she asks in a very cheerful voice.

"Hi we're here to check in. There should be reservations under the name 'Talbot'." my father says.

The lady, whose name tag reads 'Tammy', starts clicking on things on her computer before nodding.

"We have you right here. Cabin 563. Here are some key cards for you. If you need anything, there's a number for you to call in this pamphlet, otherwise there should be someone here until midnight that will be more than willing to help. Enjoy your stay." She says with a smile.

"Thank you very much." says my father. He hands me a room key and puts the rest in his pocket.

"Don't I get my own key?" Bree asks staring at the one I now hold in my hand. My father thinks about it for a second before nodding.

"Don't lose it." he says warningly as he fishes out another card and hands it to her. She nods and tucks it away. "Alright let's go find your mother and the girls and we'll head straight to the cabin."

"I'll meet you guys there, I have to use the restroom." I say turning towards the bathrooms. My father nods and he and Bree head off.

The bathrooms smell like that soap they use in car washes. The stuff that looks like a unicorn just threw up its rainbowy insides all over your car. Yeah that stuff.

After doing my business, I wash my hands, leaving them smelling gently of pine needles and cinnamon. I smell like a forest already and it hasn't even been an hour. I pull open the door, but the instant I walk out of the lavatory, I run right into something. Nope. Someone.

"Ow." I grumble, rubbing my shoulder where it had smacked into the person.

"Oh sorry love, that was my fault. Wasn't looking where I was going." says the guy. Love? Did he just call me love? Is he British? Yes. Do I know him? I definitely know him from somewhere.
