Al P.O.V.
"Why were the people so scared of us, Miss Shay?" I asked when we were all sitting down for breakfast the next morning. The food looked so good. I wished I had a body so I could just taste it. "They're really wary of strangers now, since two children have gone missing in a week," the woman replied. Her red eyes instantly gave away the fact that she was Ishvalan. As small as this town was, it had quite a diversity of people. She looked to be in her late thirties with dark brown hair that was pulled into a loose bun. "Two children? Who?" Ed asked as he shovelled more food into his mouth. Her eyes softened, filling with tears. "My children. First my son Sage went missing. He's only thirteen. Then my fifteen year-old daughter Lillith went missing the next day while she was out looking for him," she replied softly, wiping the tears from her eyes. Ed had stopped eating and stared at the woman for a long time. "Is that them?" he asked, pointing to a picture on the wall behind her. The picture was of a boy with silvery hair and crimson eyes being carried by a young girl. Her eyes were three different shades of red, and her chestnut-colored hair tumbled down her back in waves. They were both smiling as the teenage girl held the boy on her back. "Yes. They've been gone for days. They just disappeared and I-I don't know--" she stopped speaking and began to cry and tremble violently.
I looked over at Ed, who was staring intently at the picture. "Brother, do you think their disappearance is connected to the strange things going on in the warehouse?" I whispered. "I don't know," he murmured back. "There's only one way to find out." He stood and slung his coat over his shoulder. "Don't cry, ma'am. It'll be alright," I said, not knowing what would pacify her. Brother coughed, catching her attention. "Miss Shay, we'll try to find them," he said. Her eyes, swollen and puffy from crying, lit up brightly. "Really? You will? You'll bring my babies home to me?" she asked, smiling at him. He nodded, patting her gently on the shoulder. "We'll try," he repeated. "Thank you. Thank you so much," she cried.

Everyone was gone. They were labeled as defective or failed experiments, and they were executed. Only Crey and I remained. "You have to get out of here, little one," he whispered as we heard the footsteps nearing the room. "I can't leave you here!" I hissed. "You must. If you want to survive, now is your only chance," he replied. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine." The door swung open and we both stopped talking. The man in the lab coat neared my cage and I whimpered. I felt a great amount of fear, unlike any I had ever felt; however, I didn't have the urge to run and hide. Adrenaline coursed through my veins as I became more afraid. I didn't want to flee though. I wanted to fight. I wanted to destroy them like they had destroyed the lives of my friends, of my fellow prisoners. He unlocked the cage, and I crouched into a defensive position. As the first military man stepped forward, I lunged at him. My teeth sunk into his neck and the warm blood dripped down my chin as I tore his throat out. I let him go and he fell to the ground with a heavy thud.
I leaped at another, and then another, until only the man in the lab coat was left. I approached him slowly, as if stalking my prey. He backed into a corner and made a disgusting sobbing noise, which made me even angrier. I clawed at his face, gouging out his eyes and peeling off his skin. I couldn't stop. Suddenly, a voice snapped me out of my crazed frenzy. "Lillith!" Crey shouted. "That's enough. They're all dead." I turned to him, feeling lost and confused. I felt their blood start to seep through my clothes. "What...what have I done?" I whispered, walking over to Crey. I sat on the floor beside him and laid my head on his shoulder. White-hot tears trailed down my face. He wrapped his arms around me gently, smoothing my hair down and rocking me back and forth. "Shhh. You didn't do anything wrong, little one," he cooed. "You were simply defending yourself, you were saving your own life." I sobbed even more, gripping the fabric of his shirt tightly. "They're bad people. They deserved it, but I feel so...I feel so bad," I whispered. "I know little one, I know," he sighed.
