**Sorry chap. 6 is so short. The story up until-- and throughout-- chapter 6 follows the course of Brotherhood, so I never bothered to write more (I was too lazy)**
Lillith P.O.V.
'I love him. Oh my God, I love him. I love Alphonse,' I thought to myself one night as I was walking back to the hotel room with him. We weren't doing anything too spectacular, just bringing back groceries for Ed. I loved him; I have always loved him. From the gentle way he spoke to me, to the way he brightened everything around him. I loved him so much, and it had taken me so long to realize it. I had gone through so much with the Elric brothers. My life had been put in danger so many times. Through it all, Alphonse had been my shield, my rock, and my savior. It had been months, but the Promised Day was near. Central was under seige, most of the homunculi were defeated, and we were running right into the middle of it all. "Brother wants you to go into hiding," he said suddenly. "I can't! I-I won't!" I exclaimed, trying not to cry. "We're supposed to stick together," I argued. "I agreed with him," he murmured, looking away. "Why?" I whispered, the tears starting to fall. They were going to leave me again. "We can't let you get hurt because of us," he replied. "So that's all I am to you? A liability?" I shouted. We were standing in the doorway of the hotel and the few people passing by were staring at us.
"It's not like that, Lillith. I swear," he murmured, pulling me inside toward the stairs. "We just want you to be safe." I sighed heavily, resisting the urge to roll my eyes. He was holding me awfully close. I never thought I could get so flustered by a suit of armor. But then again, Alphonse wasn't just a suit of armor. He was a human being, a sweet young boy. A sweet young boy who had my heart. "Fine. I'll go wherever you send me," I sighed. "Just come back safe and in one piece." I had a very bad feeling.
**a few days later**
I had spent days in the little storage warehouse just beyond Central HQ. The sounds of chaos and war surrounded me, but I did not pursue the battle. For Al's sake, I stayed put like I was told. One particular day, I heard cheers erupting from Central Command. Hesitantly, I made my way out of the old building. Al and Ed's scent was old, but I could still follow it pretty easily. I was led to a portion of Central Command that was completely obliterated. A few Briggs soldiers were cleaning the debris and destruction in the courtyard. I nodded at them, pulling my cloak tighter around myself. Eventually, I was in a part of Central Headquarters, overlooking a garden of sorts. I saw Ed walking with a small, frail boy with long, dirty blonde hair. He looked up in my direction and I saw his olive-colored eyes, seeming to stare right through me. I knew there was no way he could see me, but I ducked behind a pillar and hid anyway. It was Alphonse, I was sure of it. I saw someone throw themself at him, wrapping him in a tight hug. Sparing a second glance, I saw that it was the young Xingese princess. My chest tightened as I felt my heart shattering into a million pieces. He was so fragile and sickly. He needed to get better, he needed to get stronger; and he wouldn't be able to do that with a freak like me hanging around. With tears streaming down my face, I turned and ran as fast and as far as I was able.
