Chapter Eight

Everything made sense now..

The pull I had towards the little girl..

The fact that she looked so familiar but at the same time I've never seen her my entire life

She was my daughter..

That's the thing I was supposed to know when Selena came to my house..

- she's my daughter? - I asked feeling my tears

- Yes.. Your mother knows.. But I just.. I couldn't tell you.. You had a dream and you looked so happy to pursue it and I knew how it would be.. You would've stayed if I told you I was pregnant

- And what? - I said now irritated - losing 3 years of my daughter's childhood is better?

- Nick.. Please don't do this.. - Demi cried

A few small little steps came closer and that made me look towards her.. I had complete different eyes for the same little human being

- Why cry? - she asked both of us

I looked down at the ground and Demi looked away.. How could we look at this precious human being knowing this was all a big mistake?

- Baby girl.. You wanna go home?

She came closer to me and smiled - No cry - she shook her head grabbing my cheeks - life good! Birds sing

I smiled at her - yes.. life's good Sky.. - i sniffed - Can you hug me?

She nodded and jumped to my lap but this hug just made me cry more.. This hug made me weak.. This hug was me trying to pour my heart out into this little girl..

Would she remember me as her father? Would she even know who I am?

Am I her father to her, or is it Wilmer?

- Mommy I no go home..

Demi smiled and watched us as Sky leaned more into me

I looked down and saw her closing her eyes

- Baby, you're tired.. - Demi said

I looked down and cleaned my tears.. Nick, this is your entire world now..

I smiled and started rocking her singing her the same song I sang the other night

Demi sat there looking at us and singing along.. I couldn't believe this was happening

Demi twisted my world upside down in a minute..

Skyler was sound asleep when me and Demi started talking again..

- She never fell asleep on anybody except me.. Wilmer gave up at the 50th time..

I looked down - Guess she feels safe with me..

Demi nodded - I don't know why, but I can see that the "father daughter bond" is real.. I mean..

We stood in silence for brief minutes until I asked the question

- Does Wilmer know?

Demi nodded - He does.. And he wanted to put Valderrama in her last name.. But I chose mine.. Now when I marry, she's gonna have the same last name as me

I nodded- What's her full name? Birth date? I have so many questions

Demi chuckled - I bet you have.. You're not mad at me?
