Gideon was forced to admit that since Ayah had gone, he felt like one of his family had died and he would never quite recover from the loss. It was exactly how he'd felt when she really died for those few agonising minutes. It had been pure hell, knowing he couldn't do anything.

They had grown so close that even Reed understood the brother/sister bond that had grown between them since they had met. Sometimes she was so helpless that he was the big brother taking care of her and letting her cry on his shoulder. At other times he was stupid and reckless, and she was the big sister helping him fix his mistakes and making everything better again. He was the physically strong one with the chaotic emotions and Ayah was the emotionally strong one with the brains and skill to explain any situation and turn it from bad to good.

He missed that.

Without her, he was a wreck, not knowing what to do or say to people, not really knowing how to cope with the things in his head. He hadn't seen Anita since the party, when, after Molly's outburst he had reluctantly admitted that he still had feelings for her. Anita had taken it pretty well, telling him that if he ever got over Molly and she was still single, they should get together. But he didn't think it was so likely.

He was so confused by how he felt about Molly that he barely knew what to do with himself. He hated her and felt something close to love for her at the same time. But there was a nagging in his chest that she had didn't quite love her yet. He had seen in Reed's eyes what he felt in his heart...that it sucked to have someone he loved taken away from him.He decided to give her one more chance, to see if he could love her, or if he would never love her. With that decision made, for good or bad, he took the walk to St Katherine's not knowing what was going to happen.

Bruce opened the door and he couldn't help but be grateful. He had always been easier to talk to. "Can I see Molly? It's important," he confessed.Bruce smiled at him, patted his shoulder and then left the door wide open as he went to fetch Molly for him. Gideon couldn't help but smile to himself; at least Bruce trusted him if she didn't. He only had to wait the five minutes it took for her to appear, looking more than just a little reluctant.

"What do you want?" she asked, frostily.

"Let's go outside," he decided. Then he took off for the back door, before she could argue. When he looked back, she was following him, so he gave himself some points. She could have decided not to follow him,but since she was, he held a little hope. He could tell she was angry with him for something and that she didn't want to listen to anything he had to say.

She was like a snow queen lately. Icy and cruel. Instead of wasting time with words, he waited until they reached the summer house, took hold of her shoulders and surprised her with a good and proper kiss that she couldn't run away from. For a second she fought it, pushing him away, but he wasn't going to let her do that again. He just wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her even closer to him.

Molly felt like she had faded into him. For the first time since their break up she felt normal again, complete and she couldn't help but bask in it. It was a while before Gideon let her escape, but by that time neither of them were in too much of a rush to do anything that needed words.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me, I've been like some kind of green eyed monster," Molly giggled suddenly, having thought their kiss resolved everything until she saw that Gideon wasn't smiling. He took her hand and led her into the summer house, sitting her down before mulling over whether to tell her the truth or not. He had Reed's permission, but he still wasn't sure he could trust her. So he gave her a shortened version.

"Look Molly, I can't explain everything. I'm not allowed, but what I can tell you is that even if Ayah did fancy me, which she doesn't, it wouldn't mean anything. She's like a sister to me. I love her like family," he reasoned out what he was comfortable saying. As expected, Molly tried to get up and leave, but he caught her arm and stopped her. "She's engaged to one of my best friends, Moll," he sighed, choosing to believe that she saw the truth of his words, or heard it in his voice, because she sat back down. Reluctantly, but she did it.
