"Bella!" a soft exclaim came from the woman inside the room, surprised by the appearance of the woman who she had been worried for all night.
"Where have you been? I have been trying to reach you from your RWD but I haven't gotten any response since last night. I was so worried about you." Kali asked.
"I'm so sorry, Kal. I'm sorry for worrying you but I'm okay." She dismissed not really in the mood to explain to her roommate and friend what she just went through.
"What happened?"
Aelia let out an exasperated sigh, she sat down on her bed before kindly dismissing Kali, "I'm sorry, Kal, I'm really not in the condition to explain, I'm exhausted and really needed some rest, can I just tell you later?" she bargained.
"Of course," Kali quickly answered with understanding, "You take as much rest as you need. I'll be here when you need me, okay?" She offered concerned with the younger woman.
"Thank you, Kali. I promise I will tell you later." She said before drifting off to sleep.
Kali was seated on the edge of her bed waiting for Aelia to reappear from the bathroom, the younger woman has woken up few moments ago after a short nap and decided to freshen up, Kali was still in the room when she woke up, perched up in her own bed reading a book.
Kali looks up immediately when Aelia stepped out of the bathroom, hair damp and her expression still heavy with sleep and memories.
"Hey," Kali says gently. "Feeling any better?"
Aelia nods slowly, rubbing her temples. "Yeah... better."
There's a moment of silence before Aelia sat back on her bed, legs drawn to her chest and back leaning on the headboard.
"You still want to know what happened?" she asks, voice low.
Kali closes her book. "Only if you want to tell me."
Aelia nodded, but before she could speak, Kali softly spoke.
"Before you start," she said, "I had a quick conversation with Eirene." She spoke carefully looking at Aelia,
"I was not trying to be nosy, but when I heard this morning that Celestine was brought to the hospital last night I immediately rushed there. I was worried for her, for Eirene, and for you." She said gently. "She told me some of what happened... about Lilith. About how bad it got."
Aelia gave a small nod and gave a quiet sigh. "Then you already know the worst of it."
"I know some of it," Kali said softly. "But I wanted to hear it from you."
There was no demand in her tone, only concern. Aelia appreciated that, Kali was always gentle with her, always kind and understanding.
"She ambushed us," Aelia started, voice low. "We didn't stand a chance. I was thrown off the vehicle, then she choked me. When Eirene and Cel tried to get to me, Lilith thrown them away too, Cel got hurt, really bad. Eirene couldn't get through to me because of Lilith's energy field. I..." she paused, choosing her words, she remembers the first time she almost got killed. Kali cried so hard. "I would've died if Azriel hadn't shown up." She carefully finished, cautiously looking back at Kali.
Kali's eyes flicked to her, hesitant. "That's the part I don't really understand. Eirene told me she left you with Azriel, and that she was the one who saved you but, Why Azriel? Why was she there?"
Aelia looked away. "I don't know. She just appeared. Took charge. Told Eirene to get Celestine out while she stayed behind for me."
"And she fought Lilith?" Kali asked, though she already knew the answer. Her voice was quiet but still tinged with disbelief.
