Lourd: OH GOD!! Thanks for reminding me. I'm gone.
I stared at the text Lourdes sent me for about 20 minutes. Yes, that long. That girl didn't know the power she had over me. I would sit and obsess over a sentence she said, a book she read, anything at all.
I got up to get ready for the dinner. My parents and Lourd's parents hold this formal dinner, every Sunday before school reopens after the Summer and Christmas holidays. They are best of friends. I don't have a clue as of why they did this dinner thingy, when they saw each other everyday. I tell you, it's a one in a lifetime thing if Lourdes's family doesn't come over or we don't go over to theirs for dinner.
I'm an only child and so is Lourd. With our parents being best friends, Lourd and I were together all the time playing and just hanging out. I changed all that.
You see when I was 10, I started to wonder why I thought about Lourdes so much. When I was 11 I found out that I liked her. When I was 12 I found out it wasn't just a crush but love. I distanced myself, I was scared that I might have been in love long before 10 years old. Because when it started I don't know so I made new friends thinking that it might help me forget her. I pushed her away because I was scared of what I felt. But I stayed in touch, I had to for my sake.
I got up and started to put on my tux. When I had finished I looked at myself in the mirror. Black tux, black tie, black shoes. Yea all good. My hair had that ruffled look; like I ran my fingers through it. But believe me when I tell you, my hair has a mind of its own. I'm the next Harry Potter. Because even if I gel it up, it stays for a while then ruffles up back again.
My eyes blue with green flecks were adding the needed touch of color to my outfit. My cheekbones were prominent in my face. All in all I looked...nice.
After taking one last look, I bounded down the stairs and into the living room to find my parents already there.
"Wow son, you look great," my father said, looking dapper like always. "Someone your trying to impress?"
"Oh, shut up James," Mom said smiling.
"Honey, you know he's in looove with Lourdes," Dad teased. "Good choice if you ask me."
"True, true," Mom agreed.
"Just shut up guys," I said shaking my head. "You don't know a thing."
Before they could say anything else the doorbell. I hurried to get the door. When I opened the door, I was blown away when I saw what was behind it.
