I rub my hand over the area on my wall where Lucas made the portal. The markings are all gone just like he said they would. I'm still amazed at everything I saw him do tonight; that boy is truly something special. It's almost an hour since Lucas left and I have felt empty inside ever since then. There is no doubt in my mind that he's my mate; I realized it when I picked up his oh-so-wonderful scent while running through the woods.

I can feel the ground beneath my feet as I run through the woods in my wolf form, the wind brushing against my thick brown fur.  The power of the full moon has my wolf going crazy, jumping about with excitement.

"What's up with you, Titus?" I question my wolf.

"I don't know. Something about tonight's full moon is making me feel... agitated,"

"What do you mean agitated?"

"I told you I don't know! I just have a feeling that something is about to happen. Something good,"

Titus has always been jumpy and so I find it a bit hard to believe in what he's saying. Maybe it's because he hasn't been out in a while, or maybe -
I break my thought and stop dead in my tracks. I smell something, something that sends Titus into a full on frenzy. I tilt my head up, snout in the air, and begin tracking the scent. The closer I get the stronger the scent becomes. It's truly amazing, the most arousing aroma I have ever smelt, it smells of strawberries and vanilla. No wonder why Titus is so excited. I quickly sprint off towards the source of the aroma.

About a mile away from the aroma's source I pick up another scent, this one is the total opposite of the one before. It is revolting, like the smell of rotting flesh. I literally feel as though my nose is going to burn off. Who or whatever that odor belonged to really needs to learn how to take a bathe. I can tell it belongs to something dangerous, so I stop to turn around but Titus completely disagrees.

"What are you doing?! We need to get to that aroma's source" he barks at me, I hate it when he does that.

"What's so important about that aroma?!"

Titus immediately becomes silent, I wait for a response from him but I get nothing. Stupid wolf. I turn back around and continue heading towards the aroma. Titus better hope it's nothing bad, but I fail to see how when it smells so good.

I am about to close in on my target when the fog begins to roll in, but it isn't any ordinary fog, it completely blocks my sense of smell.

I'm not about to give up, I point my snout at the ground and sniff. Nothing, I can't smell anything. As soon as I'm about to give up the fog clears away as fast it came. Odd. I look up and that's when I see him, the most beautiful boy I've ever seen, the light of the full moon revealing his glorious features. About 14 feet away from me is a boy around sixteen of average body size. His short gold-brown curly hair is dirty, probably from a fall, his gorgeous dark brown eyes are filled with anger.

I know this boy. He's Lucas Smith, Emily's best friend and the high school's genius.

"Mate!" Titus Howled

"Wait what? He's our mate?"

But Titus is already gone. Don't get me wrong, I like Lucas. He's cute, smart, strong and independent; but I've never seen him take interest in anyone before. Heck! He might even be asexual.

I take a quick sniff and sure as hell he's the source of that aroma, but I also pick up a faint scent of fear coming from him. I then realize why when I see a huge black wolf with ruby red eyes 60 feet away from him. I can hear the cracking of bones as the wolf shifts into a man, once again I receive that foul odor. It's coming from him.

The sound of electricity diverts my attention back to Lucas. In both his hands are balls of lightning. He's a sorcerer?! Go figure. Lucas starts throwing balls of lightning at the strange man, but they all hit the ground in front of him. How can he miss?! The man lets out a loud chuckle. He is going after Lucas, my Lucas! I quickly jump behind a tree next to Lucas and shift into my human form. When I look back at the scene I see the man flopping around on the ground as electricity surges through his body. Wow! So that's what he was doing. After the man stopped moving Lucas turned to run away but runs straight into my bare chest.

"Shh. Don't scream and don't panic. Just follow me and I'll get you to somewhere safe,"

A small smile creeps across my face as I remember how it felt having Lucas in my arms. So small and so fragile, yet so strong and powerful. God I miss him. On the bright side I'll get to see him at school tomorrow. I strip down to my boxers and jump into bed, pulling the grey duvet sheet over me. I can't wait to see him tomorrow. I drift asleep to the smell of his intoxicating scent flooding my room.

My Lucas.
My mate.
