Their walk from Kilima Village all the way to Bahari Bay was very quiet. Reth was doing his best to act like nothing was wrong as he was walking between Alderoth and Hassian. They weren't exactly mad at each other, it was more like they were... Maybe a little bit embarrassed because of what happened earlier.
Reth snickered silently. Seeing Alderoth angry like that, it had definitely been scary at the moment but when thinking about that situation now, it was funny. Especially because Alderoth had accused Hassian of being jealous, like the two were already dating or something! Well, Reth was sure that would happen eventually. And boy, Hassian saying all about how he just wanted Alderoth to be safe and stuff? No wonder the hunter looked embarrassed.
Reth sighed, shaking his head. These two were so obvious yet so dumb. They were basically acting like they had been dating a while already, yet for some reason they just couldn't see it.
"What are you doing?" Alderoth asked, confused as he noticed what Reth was doing.
"Nothing! Just thinking about something", Reth said amused.
"I don't want to know what", Hassian grunted.
"Wasn't going to tell you anyway. Look, there's the path."
They all stopped when they saw a narrow road going right between mountains. It was barely wide enough for two carts to pass each other.
"So we're not far away from Bening Harbor?" Alderoth asked.
"It'll only take us like an hour if we walk fast", Reth smiled and he took a step ahead when Hassian suddenly raised his hand.
"Wait", he stopped them.
"What? We need to hurry", Alderoth said as he looked at the man.
"I know, but first we should use these", Hassian said and out of the big bag he was carrying, he took out three capes. They didn't look like anything special, just very common looking dark grey capes with hoods. "I don't want us to raise too much attention."
"Won't these do exactly that?" Alderoth asked when taking one of the capes and Reth took another one.
"No, I'm sure there will be lots of others wearing capes and robes too", Hassian said and he pulled his cape over his shoulders. "Bening Harbor is always full of travellers, no one will care to look at us twice with these on."
"Hold on", Alderoth said and he narrowed his eyes. "Are you saying that if we don't use these, people will notice us?"
Hassian looked at the man and his stare pretty much told everything. Alderoth realized the problem quickly.
"I see", he hummed. "It's because I'm a human and humans are said to be extinct in this world."
"Yeah", Hassian nodded. "I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but there will be lots of people staring at you if we don't somehow hide you. Humans and majiri might look alike, but not enough for people not to notice you."
"I guess that's true."
"Oh! I might have a solution!" Reth suddenly said and he dropped his bag he had with him.
He rummaged through it until he finally pulled out a jar.
"Blueberries!" he said, showing them the berries inside the jar.
"What?" Alderoth asked, but Hassian actually nodded.
"Not a bad idea", he said and when Reth opened the lid of the jar, he took out a few berries.
Hassian turned and Alderoth almost shouted at the man when suddenly his face got smeared with those tasty blueberries. The hunter grunted approvingly when seeing how those berries turned that pale skin purple.
