I had a feeling that the only reason Nox ended up airborne and out of there was because a) he was used to doing what I screamed at him and b) Whyle trying to kill him. I would have been running from Whyle trying to kill me too had I not already been kicking serious unicorn haunch.
Said butt beating did not continue for long after Nox escaped. My burst of manic aggression abandoned me, leaving my body tired. I stumbled trying to open my wings up for lift off even as I was swarmed by a sea of colorful horns and horses now that Nox's fire no longer held them at bay.
But that was... sort of okay? I had succeeded. Perhaps they planned to kill Nox, but he was free! Whatever happened to me didn't matter so long as he was free. So as I stumbled and felt one wing being dragged down, and then the other; I shrieked my triumph.
"You can't catch him now! You can't catch him now!"
I'm nothing if not optimistic you know.
