Chapter 2:
*Kate's POV*
It was 7:59 a.m. at the bed side clock, one minute more and the annoying 'beep-beep' sound of the alarm would start, but Kate was already wide awake. It has been the same routine now – every night she would set the alarm time at 8, although she would not have been able to keep her eyes closed after 6. As the shrill cacophony of the alarm clock went off, Kate got up and started her daily morning ritual of brushing, making herself a hot steaming cup of black coffee, getting the milk packets and daily newspaper from the front door – starting the search for a new suitable job. It has been the same for a while now, the job market had become very competitive, she used to go for daily interviews, would even crack them but at the end the jobs would not be suitable for her. But today was different. She had made up her mind to get in a job which she deserved and then be satisfied with it. As soon as she turned on to the first page of the newspaper, she choked on her coffee and her heart nearly stopped. There, on the very first page, was a huge picture of him, with the headlines-
'One of New York's biggest business tycoons has returned to the city.'
"He's here. He's back." She whispered, to herself, as a drop of tear rolled down her face.
*Rick's POV*
The treadmill's speed was constantly being increased. It had been 40 minutes of nonstop running since he had got on to this mean machine. Most people would have thought, it was for keeping his incredibly hot muscled body fit and can you even blame them for trying to picture what's beneath those well tailored suits that adorn the body of Richard Anderson. Tall - precisely 6 ft. 3 inches, lean, chiseled and sculpted chest with toned abs and an inverted triangle at his hips, he had a body that men would kill for to have and women would die for just to have one look at it. Not too much muscle on his arms, just the right amount to tell you that they were strong. He knew that he had the body of a Greek God and wanted people to envy it but he didn't run for keeping it fit, he ran to think, as the running had always been able to clear his mind. It was an important day for him ahead. Many major decisions were to be made, and for that he needed a clear mind.
As Rick got down from the treadmill, he went to grab the glass of orange juice from the table. The cold juice was a relief to his parched throat. By the time he had finished gulping all of it down, he heard the penthouse lift door open with a 'ding' sound. He raised from his chair, seeing his goddamn secretary, Edward Collins, entering the room – the guy was a pain in the ass seriously but he couldn't get rid of him since he was so good at his work.
"Good Morning Sir. I'm here to escort you to the office and also to discuss today's meetings and agendas."
"Can't that be done in the office? Why do you have to come here?" Rick asked him, getting irritated. He was not even ready yet.
"Yes Sir that can be done, but since it is your first day back here in New York, things will be easy if we start early and moreover it is a very long day ahead."
Rick sighed to himself; he knew the man was right, "Okay fine, tell me about all the meetings."
"Surely Sir, but first you must get ready. I'll leave you to it and will be waiting down in the lobby."
"Yes please." He got up from his chair to go towards his bedroom.
"Oh and one more thing Sir, I have also arranged for the interview for hiring your Personal Assistant and you need to be present during the final selection," saying this Edward turned and left the room.
A Personal Assistant interview – wasn't this day getting better and it had not even begun. Rick snorted to himself, but little did he know that this day was holding a far bigger surprise for him than he had imagined.

Okay this chapter is really short but I didn't want to extend it too much. So how are you liking the characters? Kate and Rick? Who is making an impression on you?
