Chapter One: Mysterious Girl.

The bell had just rang. Ross knew he was late, so he rushed through the hallways, pushing through the other students. He needed to get to his chemistry class before the teacher gave him another tardy, his mother would ground him for life if that happened.
"Lynch," shouted Ross's extremely angry teacher. "You are late."
"Only by one minute, Mr. Bennet. Making progress, eh?" Ross said in a worried tone, shrugging his shoulders slightly.
"That is true, but you need to learn to arrive on time for a change." The teacher's face softened a little, but he was obviously still disappointed.
"I'm so sorry. I can explain. I-"
"No excuses. Just go to your seat." Mr. Bennet pointed to the seat.
"Yes, sir." Ross rushed over to his seat next to his usual partner, and put his backpack on the floor.
"He's so hard on you." The ginger said to Ross, looking over at him.
"He always is, Calum. Haven't you learned that by now?" Ross whispered.
Calum nodded his head gently and immediately started following the teacher's instructions. Ross started to do his part, but suddenly got distracted. Through the strand of blonde hair that dangled in front of his eye, he saw a girl sitting at the table next to his, without a partner- she was obviously a new girl. He quickly became intrigued by this girl. Her long brown hair that rested against her back, her slightly crooked nose, her hands that looked so soft, yet looked like she works a lot, and the look of concentration that showed on the girl's face as she worked on the project.
"Ross, stop lolly gagging." Me. Bennet snapped, making Ross flinch slightly and get back to work.
After a while, the bell rung and students began to rush out of the classroom, but Ross stayed in his seat for a moment before standing up and approaching the mysterious new girl.
"Hi. My name is Ro-"
"I don't have time for a pointless conversation. I've got to go." The girl pushed past Ross and before he knew it, she was gone and he just stood there like an idiot.
"Ross, if you're late one more time, I'm going to have to fail you in this class." Mr. Bennet said as Ross picked up his backpack and slung it over his shoulder.
"It uh, it won't happen again." Ross said and rushed toward the door, but the teacher called out his name.
"Can we talk for a moment?" Mr. Bennet questioned.
"Look, if this is about me always being late, I promise you that it won't happen again." Ross stood still with his hand on the doorknob.
"I just want to know why you are always late. Is there problems or something?" Mr. Bennet seemed concerned now. Ross had never seen him this way.
"Uhh.. No, no. Everything is fine. Thanks for asking." Ross lied and turned the doorknob.
"Are you sure? No family problems?" Mr. Bennet said.
"Fine. You want to know about a screwed up family life? My dad recently left my mom for a younger woman, my mom is scared and depressed, my grandfather is my only grandparent left, but he's dying, my sister killed herself, and my uncle beats the crap out of me. Not to mention now that my mom is out of her mind, I have to do all the cooking and cleaning, and I have to watch my mom cry herself to sleep because she doesn't know what to do anymore, and I have to watch my grandfather die. My life SUCKS. Okay? Leave me alone!" Ross then stormed out of the class room and ran home.
