Chapter Three: First Mission
-
After about ten minutes of driving, Lili and Ross had finally arrived at the place where Lili had intended to go, but Ross wasn't very sure of what was going on.
"Is.. This your house?" Ross questioned, looking closely at the old building in front of them as he got out of the car.
"No." Lili replied as she ran to the door.
"Then what is this place?"
Lili didn't answer. Instead, she leaned closer to the door after she had reached it, as if about to say something to someone inside.
"What are you doing?" Ross asked.
"SHHHH! God! You're so not professional." Lili whispered.
"Professional at what?" Ross asked, leaning on the wall.
Lili glanced at him, but turned her attention back to the door.
"Lilac Carters." Lili said, as if someone was at the door listening.
"What are you-"
Suddenly the door opened and Lili walked in, dragging Ross along with her.
"Thank you, Blake." Lili said as she entered the building. Her voice echoed a bit, probably because the building was somewhat empty as far as Ross could tell.
"Who's this?" The brunette guy, who was obviously named Blake, asked as he pointed to Ross.
"Oh this? He's just someone I stumbled across. Thought he'd be great for the mission." Lili said and Ross raised an eyebrow.
"What's his name?" Blake asked.
"Ro-"
Lili looked at Ross as if she was silently telling him to shut up.
"Ross Shor." Lili answered for Ross, leaving Ross in shock.
"Oh. Okay, are you going to train him?" Blake asked.
"There's no time. I'm just here to grab supplies, then I have to go. I think he'll be fine though." Lili said and quickly dragged Ross with her to the back of the building, where there was multiple weapons and gear.
"Okay, why didn't you let me speak, how did you know my middle name, and what did he mean when he said something about training me?" Ross questioned.
"It's a spy's job, isn't it?" Lili grinned at him as she grabbed some gear and put it in a bag.
"A what's job?" Ross said in shock.
"Right. I didn't tell you.. I'm a spy." Lili said and motioned for him to follow her. She led him outside and to the car again.
"Wait, so you're a spy?" Ross asked and Lili nodded as she began driving again. "And you're taking ME of all people on a mission.. Without training?" Ross said and Lili chuckled.
"You'll be fine. Now come on. We've got a job to do." Lili said and got out of the car after arriving at the location of the mission.
"Umm.. Okay." Ross said and followed Lili.
When Lili reached the door, she looked around to make sure no one was watching, and grabbed a crowbar out of the bag to pry the door open.
"Wh-"
"Shhhh." Lili quickly covered Ross's mouth.
Ross moved her hand away and agreed to be quiet. Lili then quickly but sneakily went inside the empty museum and dragged Ross in before quietly shutting the door.
"What are we at this art museum for?" Ross whispered.
"We're here for a certain painting." Lili said as she shined he flashlight in different areas of the museum.
"Okay, uh.."
"Aha. Here it is. Give me the copy." Lili whispered and carefully took the expensive painting off the wall before turning to Ross and reaching out her hand.
"Wha-"
"Reach in the bag and give me the damn copy. You know what, nevermind. Just give me the bag." Lili reached her hand out and Ross hesitantly gave the bag to her. She reached in and took out the fake painting before putting it in the real painting's spot.
Ross was now beginning to wonder whether she truly was a spy, or if she was a criminal.
"Can I ask you something?" Ross asked.
"I can't talk right now. I'm busy." Lili bit down on her bottom lip as she situated the fake painting.
"Okay." Ross said.
Lili took in a small breath once she got the picture positioned correctly. "Now we just need to-"
Before Lili could finish what she was saying, Ross somehow managed to set off an alarm.
"Dammit, Ross!" Lili said and quickly put the painting in the bag and grabbed Ross's hand before running out the back door. By the time they got to the car, police had arrived and they were surrounded.
