Chapter 1

Skyler's POV

"You can't be serious Anne." I said to my social worker. We were sat inside Ashdeen Ridge, a children's care home.

"I'm sorry Skyler but it looks like you may have to be sent back to Burnywood." Anne sighed. I hated Burnywood and once I left I swore to myself that I would never be back.

"Listen Anne, if you need a place for Skyler to stay she can always stay here until things are sorted at Burnywood." The care worker Mike said. Anne glanced at me then at Mike.

"That could work. Have you got space for her here though?" Anne questioned.

"Yeah we can have one of the girls share a room with her." Mike said. I honestly wouldn't mind staying here for a while, it seemed much better than Burnywood. Suddenly two boys burst into the room.

"Mike!" Said one of the boys. His voice was familiar.

"Wait... Sky is that you?" Said the other boy. I definitely knew who they were.

"Rick! Tyler!" I exclaimed as I jumped up from the seat I was sitting in. "Oh my God! I can't believe you're here."

"We could say the same for you Sky." Rick smiled. I gave him a hug. Then ruffled Tyler's hair, I used to always do that when we were in Burneywood.

"Why are you guys here? I thought you were at Burnywood." I asked.

"There was a fire." Tyler said.

"Of course there was. Who caused it?" I asked raising my eyebrow.

"Lizanne and her straighteners." Rick said whilst rolling his eyes.

"Figures." I laughed.

"So why're you here?" Asked Tyler. Just as I was about to answer the other care worker May-Li interrupted us.

"Alright you three can play catch up later, right now we need to figure out where Skyler will be staying." May-Li said.

"She could always have my room if she wants, I could move in with Tyler." Rick said.

"You sure Rick, I mean she could easily move in with one of the girls like Tee or Faith." Mike stated.

"Yeah I'm sure Mike, I know Faith is finally happy to have a room to herself after having to share with Elektra for ages and it saves having to move a bed into Tee's room." Rick stated.

"Alright, I guess she can stay there until she gets back to Burnywood." Mike said.

"Wait what?" Tyler said.

"Sky's going back to Burnywood? Why can't she stay here?" Rick added.

"Listen Rick, Tyler, we know you boys might be close with Skyler but her rightful care home is Burnywood." May-Li stated. Now that I knew Tyler and Rick were here I definitely wasn't going back to Burnywood.

"May-Li, Mike, please can I stay, I promise you I'm not a rowdy person, you won't even know I'm here." I pleaded. "Plus Rick and Tyler are basically my brothers."

"Yeah Mike, can't she stay." Tyler said. Mike sighed.

"Fine, Anne can look into it but you two better not cause any trouble." Mike said as he pointed at Rick and Tyler. I giggled, Tyler and Rick had always been jokesters, especially Tyler.

"Thanks Mike!" I smiled. "I guess it's catch up time." Rick and Tyler laughed slightly.

"Come on, we better hurry before the others start bombarding you with questions." Rick said. He held out his hand for me. I grabbed it and all three of us ran upstairs. As we were going up we bumped into two kids.

"Who's she?" Asked a young girl.

"Oh Floss this is Sky, she's new. Tyler and I used to be in a care home with her." Rick clarified.

"Oh okay." Floss smiled. "I'm Floss, nice to meet you Sky." She seemed really sweet. She actually reminded me myself when I first met Rick, I was innocent and young like Floss, oh how times change.

"Nice to meet you too Floss." I said.

"I'm Harry." Said a boy that was standing next to Floss.

"Nice to meet you Harry." I smiled.

Rick's POV

I still couldn't believe Sky was here. She was literally my sister at Burnywood, just like Tyler is like my brother. At Burnywood you didn't really have proper friends, it was more like alliances but Tyler, Sky and and I were an exception. We all protected each other, no matter how many beat downs it'd mean we'd get. We promised each other no matter what happened that we would never betray each other, and we never did. When Sky left it was one of the worst things to happen at Burnywood, it didn't feel like I was losing a friend, it felt like I was losing more than that.

Once we reached my room Carmen suddenly came over to us.

"Hey Rick, hey T---" Carmen froze as she noticed Sky and I holding hands. Sky realised and immediately let go. I turned to her with a questioning look. Seriously, can't a guy and a girl just be mates if they hold hands. "Uh who's she?" Carmen crossed her arms.

"Carmen this is Sky, she was a really close mate of mine and Tyler's at Burnywood." I said.

"Ehh, I was at Burnywood for a while and I don't remember anyone called Sky." Carmen said, there was a strange tone to her voice,

"I was fostered years ago." Sky said.

"So why are you here then? Shouldn't you be playing happy families?" Carmen snapped. Sky moved further forward.

"Excuse me." She hissed. Carmen moved forward as well. Tyler took hold of Carmen whilst I took hold of Skyler.

"You've got a family so why are you here?" Carmen hissed back. I looked at Carmen with a slight disgusted look on my face.

"What the heck Carmen?" I said. "Why do you need to know why she's here?" I couldn't believe how Carmen was reacting to Sky.

"Rick, she got fostered so why is she coming back to a care home she knows
nothing about." Carmen said shaking Tyler off her.

"Maybe because I wanted to." Sky said. "Also if you didn't notice I have two guys here who care about me."

"Oh yeah, if they 'care' about you then why have they never mentioned you Sky." Carmen snapped again. Sky stood shocked a bit.

"Maybe because they don't want nosy girls poking their nose into their business." Sky retaliated.

"Guys, quit it already." Tyler interrupted.

"Yeah, come on." I said holding my hand out for Sky again. She glared at Carmen then took it.

"Sorry about her Sky. I don't know what's up with her." I sighed.

"Sounded like jealousy to me mate." Bailey said in the background.

"Jealousy? Carmen jealous of Sky? You can't be serious Bailey." I scoffed.

"Well you and Carmen did date once so I wouldn't be surprised, I mean you and your friend there look pretty close." Bailey said.

"You dated Carmen?" Sky asked me. I felt pretty awkward.

"Yeah... a while ago I did." I said awkwardly.

"I wouldn't have thought she was your type. I mean she's pink and girly." Sky said.

"Yeah, it didn't last that long." I clarified.

"Anyways, who he?" Sky asked me, referring to Bailey.

"Oh I'm Bailey." Bailey said.

"Well I'm Skyler, most people call me Sky." Sky introduced herself. 'Maybe she'll fit in here.' I thought.
