 "Hit me with another."

Her voice was slurred, her vision blurry, which should've told her to stop, but it did the opposite. It encouraged her. She was this close to being entirely numb. Her body was still aware of its surroundings, still awake. If she was going to be put under a sleeping spell, she wanted to be the one to do it.

The bartender eyed her cautiously, debating whether or not it was morally correct to give the seemingly troubled young lady who had been there since six in the afternoon possibly her hundredth glass of sake. She felt his stare on her, her annoyance tripling as her glare shot up, her eyes narrowed at the now nervous man, her grip on her empty glass tightening. "I said, another glass."

"Yes, ma'am." There was no hesitation in his voice, the disdain in her tone enough to make his body move unwillingly.

Sakura smirked to herself, ignoring how the slightest of movement made her body ache. Besides, this type of pain was nothing compared to other hurtful feelings she's experienced. She let her body relax into the stool, letting her eyes droop shut as she hummed thoughtfully to herself, waiting for her cup of sake.

It was a well known fact that tonight would sweep her wallet clean, but she didn't mind. Her paycheck from the hospital would be coming in tomorrow anyways. Which was supposed to be the best day of the week for her really. Tomorrow she would be attending a party at one of her old friend's house, supposedly there wasn't really a reason for celebrating, it was just there for making memories. Which she was totally okay with. She needed a good night of letting loose, besides, it's almost been a week since the last time she went out to party. That was a new record. She didn't quite know why it's been awhile, all she knew was that something in the air made her want to stay in her home as much as possible.

"Miss, your sake." She peered open her eyes to see the obviously tired bartender holding out her drink to her.

She took it begrudgingly, mumbling in response as she downed the hatch. As the burning sensation ran down her throat, igniting every nerve in her body, she couldn't help but feel alive and dead all at once. It was a feeling she's grown accustomed to and used to replace all others she believed to no longer have use to her. She felt at peace.

She let her eyes close shut once again, letting out a long and satisfied sigh as she felt the thirst for more fill her. Her eyes popped open as she held out her cup again, eyeing the bartender, not needing words to let him know what she wanted.

The bartender refrained from groaning out loud as he lazily took the cup from her hand, wondering how somebody could consume so much alcohol in one sitting. His muscles were tiring after working for so long, his boss telling him to work over-time to fulfill one of the most respected shinobi's wishes. He turned around to pour out some more of the beverage, but when the tip met the glass, only a drop poured out. Confused, he went to the back looking for more bottles.

Sakura rolled her eyes as she slammed her fist on the counter. "Do I need to get some myself?!" She roused, peering around the corner to watch the bartender fumble around in the back. "What's a lady got to do to get some service around here." She mumbled under her breath, her eyes lidded as her head spun. Almost there.

The bartender let out a tired yet somewhat relieved sigh as he approached the pink haired kunoichi. He acted sorry as he folded his hands in front of his torso. "I'm very sorry, Sakura-chan. But we've run out of sake."

Sakura quirked up an eyebrow in curiosity. This place never ran out of sake.

-later-

Sakura walked back to her home, not sober enough to walk straight. The cold night air hit her skin like an embrace, making her drunken tingles only more intense. A cold shiver ran down her spine as she looked up at the night sky, the bright stars meshing together, creating the type of paintings only Sakura could see when she was drunk. She smiled.

"Oh shit." She giggled as she almost fell over, thankful that it was already two in the morning, leaving her alone in the street without witnesses. Only few knew of her sake obsession. Some believed she got it from her sensei, Tsunade. Others thought it was from stress. But they were all wrong. Only Sakura knew, and it was to stay that way.

Her eyes glanced up, her eyes falling upon the old Uchiha compound, or was it? She couldn't tell, her vision was too messy. It probably was though, she's walked this path more times than she could count. Those blurry red and white blurbs scattered about were surely the clan symbol. But something strange made her heart stop. Was that a light coming from inside one of the houses?

Sakura shook her head with a scoff. No way. It was just her drunken state playing tricks on her. Right?
