when Jane got home from school, she went straight to her room. her parents wouldn'g be very pleased about it, but who cares? she will be gone pretty soon. she grabbed her laptop and notebook, and started planning. she wrote down every single place she wanted go visit, and planned where she would go first and stuff. she got so into it, she didn't even hear her mum, telling her that dinner was ready. so Jane turned off her laptop, hud her notebook, and went downstairs for dinner.

dinner was always very awkward. she didn't like to talk to her parents at all, but if she was too quiet, they would get mad that she never said anything. so she tried to talk about the day.
"Megan, how was your day at school?"
"it was really nice! we were done with all our tasks, and then we got to play outside for 30 minutes! and then we....."
Megan went on like that for a while, but Jane wasn't listening anymore. the only thing she could think about was leaving. it would be hard to leave Megan behind here, but she had to choose for herself now. she had to leave as soon as possible. she had her own car, so she could just say she was going to school, and then just drive away to the airport, and take the plane to her first destination. she would do it tomorrow.....

that night, Jade did not sleep at all. she waited till her parents went to bed, and then waited another 30 minutes, to make sure they were asleep. then she packed her backpack with clothes and stuff she would need. phone, charger, earpods, laptop, notebook, toothbrush, hairbrush, shampoo and tampons. then she walked quietly to the kitchen. she grabbed some apples, a bag with bread, a box of cookies, and water bottles. that would be enough for the next few days. she walked outside as quiet as possible, put the stuff in her car, and quickly got back inside, tip-toed to her room, and fell down on the bed. tomorrow it was going to happen.... she was finally going to leave this town. she honestly couldn't wait to start the great adventure that was in front of her!

her mum woke her up next morning.
"Jane get up, you have to leave for school in 10 minutes!"
today was the big day. she would finally leave. Jane felt a rush of excitement going through her body. somehow it felt so fucking great to leave. she got up, got dressed in black jeans and a red flannel. she would be wearing her vans, and she also packed her dr.martens, for when she had to walk or climb.

when Jane got downstairs, her mum was making Megan breakfast. she never made Jane breakfast though. Jane made herself 3 peanut butter sandwiches, and ate them at the kitchen table.
"anything cool going to happen at school today?" her mother asked. "nahh, not really. school pretty sucks to be honest."
"hmm, you'll be lucky you went there when you're older."
yeah right. like she would grow up to be  a women like her mum.

she quickly grabbed a banana, kissed Megan goodbye, said goodbye to her parents, and left for school. them not knowing she would not come back for a long time. she left them all a letter. they only had to find them in her room. she got in her car, opened google maps, put her favorite cd on, and drove away. she couldn't believe she was actually leaving. just the thought of it gave her a weird but nice feeling in her stomach. like she was in a rollercoaster. speeding down the rail, with her body full of butterflies. it was very satisfying, knowing she would finaly go out there and do what she loved. travelling.

the ride to the airport was pretty scary. she kept thinking, what if they find out that i'm not at school, go looking for me, and find me? but then she thought, it doesn't matter. i'm 18 so i can do what i want. when she finally got to the airport, she parkes her car at the farest place she could reach, grabbed her bag, and walked to the entrence. she had no idea where to go to. she needed a ticket to australia. where the hell can you buy a ticket at a airport? most people who get here already have a ticket. she went to the information desk, and asked it.
"excuse me, can i ask you something?"
"yes ofcourse"
"do you know where i can buy a ticket to sydney, australia?"
"you can buy a ticket right here
actually" the man behind the desk said.
"um, okay well one ticket to sydney then, please" Jane said.
"do you want to fly bussines class?"
" is that the cheapest?"
" yes" the man said.
"okay, yes bussines class please"
"that'll be $500 please, i assume you'd like to use your creditcard?"
Jane paid, took her ticket and walked to her gate. she could feel the nerves getting worse. when she got to her gate, she waited in line till she could check in. when it finally was her turn, she quickly searched for her ID. the women who checked her in, looked pretty curious. probably because i just got 18, Jane thought. right then, the women said: "immediately enjoying adulthood, are ya?"
"yes i am" Jane said, feeling pretty uncomfortable.
"well, have fun in sydney!" the women said.
"thank you" Jane mumbled.

when she got behind the gate, she sat down at Mc Donalds, and just ate some bread and an apple. she would have to wait one and a half hour till the plane would leave. she just sat there, wanting time to go faster, because as soon as she was in the plane, she couldn't go back. and that's what she wanted.
