-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You had always been a fan of Supernatural. A huge fan. When it premiered, it quickly became your favorite show, and you had grown to love those characters as if they were your own family- laughing when they laughed and grieving when they hurt, mourning those that were lost.
But it was just a television show. You never confused that fantasy with reality.
Until you met Dean Winchester.
You stopped to fill up your car at the gas station near your house before heading out with some friends for the evening. Grabbing a soda from the cooler, you got in line to pay, watching the man in front of you as he pulled his wallet out of his back pocket. He was tall, with broad shoulders and short, dark blonde hair. You couldn't see his face, but something about him felt familiar.
As he thanked the cashier and turned to leave, your breath caught in your throat.
Jensen Ackles was looking back at you.
No wonder he had seemed so familiar! Your mind immediately went blank. You knew you should say something, or at the very least, get out of his way, but your body just wouldn't cooperate.
"Excuse me," he said pleasantly. That familiar deep voice jolted you back to consciousness.
"I'm sorry, I just...you're Jensen Ackles," you said dumbly. "I really love your show."
He narrowed his eyes in confusion. "I'm sorry, what?"
"Your show! It's my favorite. I've watched it for years." Your smile faltered a little. Was he the kind of celebrity that hated being approached in public?
"I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about." And with that, he abruptly brushed past you and out of the gas station.
Feeling stupid and embarrassed, you paid for your gas and your soda and hurried back to your car. You were turning the key in your ignition when you noticed it.
The Impala.
Jensen was leaning against the car, drinking a bottle of water, while Jared Padalecki lounged in the passenger seat looking at his cell phone.
Oh, my God, you thought.
You would never forgive yourself for not saying something. Even if it annoyed them, you couldn't just let this opportunity pass you by. Mustering as much courage as possible, you got out of your car and headed toward them.
"I'm really sorry if I'm bothering you," you said warily, once you were close enough to be heard. "I just saw Jared was with you and I wanted to tell you both how big a fan I am. I can't believe you are here in an Impala." You smiled nervously, hoping they would say something, anything, back to you.
"Look," Jensen said, seemingly a little exasperated, "I don't know who you think I am, but my name is Dean. You have me mistaken for someone else."
Jared got out of the car then, smiling at you kindly.
"I'm Sam," he said. "Sorry we aren't who you want us to be."
You stared open-mouthed for a minute, then laughed. Jensen continued to look at you with a frustrated, cranky expression.
"What is so funny?"
"You two!" The surrealism of the situation rid you of your filter, and the words just spilled out. "You're actually riding around in the Impala, pretending to be Sam and Dean Winchester? What, is Cas here, too? Getting a slushy or something?"
The demeanor of both men suddenly changed. Jared tensed and looked around, hand instinctively flying to the small of his back, while Jensen rushed forward and leaned down, his face threatening and only inches from yours.
"Who the hell are you? How do you know us? And Cas?"
You shrank back a step. "Because I watch your television show," you said weakly, frightened by their sudden attitudes.
"What else do you know?"
"Well, everything, I've seen every episode..."
"Why the hell do you keep talking about a tv show? I want to know how you know us! Get in the car." He reached out for you as he slammed open the back door.
"What?"
"Get in the car. We are going to talk."
Feeling completely confused and not knowing what else to do in this completely bizarre situation, you got in the backseat of the car. The two men got in the front, and Jensen immediately pulled out of the gas station.
"We can't just kidnap someone, Dean," Jared hissed at him. He then turned to look at you with what he meant to be a comforting expression.
"Please don't worry. We just want to know how you know about us."
You didn't say anything, realizing that they were not going to accept the fact that you simply watched their television show. You had thought it was funny at first, that they were in character. But now, fear had settled inside your gut. This was not a good situation.
"Cas! We need you. Get your ass to the car, please." Jensen shouted, looking up toward the roof of the car.
A flutter of air sent a strange chill up your spine, and you suddenly weren't alone in the backseat anymore. Misha Collins sat next to you, wearing the suit and trenchcoat you were so used to seeing on the small screen of your living room.
You couldn't help it. You tried to stop the scream from welling up in your lungs, but your body couldn't hold it in. He had just appeared. From nowhere. Your scream flooded the car, making all three men wince. Misha quickly reached out to gently touch your arm, and the scream immediately stopped. You weren't exactly calm, but the immediate panic and fear for your life had subsided enough for your brain to form a thought.
"Okay, what the hell is happening?" you demanded. "Who are you?"
Jensen looked at you in the rearview mirror. "What?! You clearly know who we are. Who the hell are you?"
Jared looked back at Misha and they seemed to have a silent conversation. Misha finally turned to you.
"My name is Castiel. I take it that you know who I am. In fact, I think you know who we all are."
You squeezed your eyes shut, hoping you'd open them to find yourself in your own bed, that this was all a very odd dream. Yet when you opened them, you were still sitting on the leather seats in the black Impala. You glanced around the car at the three men and asked yourself the question you had been ignoring this entire time, a new kind of pulse-pounding excitement hitting you as you had the thought.
Was this real? Were you in a car with Cas and the Winchesters?
