My heart was beating madly. I could barely breathe. The thought of running away of leaving everything behind felt like both freedom and punishment.
I didn't know if it was sadness or excitement. Maybe both.
But one thing I was sure of I was terrified.
What if he found me?
This one question haunted me
I stepped out of Amishree's house.
And the sight in front of me made me stop breathing completely.
Ekaksh.
He was standing there, leaning against his car, smoking. The rain had stopped, but the wind was still wild blowing his hair.
His white shirt clung to his frame beneath a black blazer, flaring slightly with the wind's every pull. The smoke from the cigar circled around him like he owned the silence.
He looked... deadly calm.
Too calm.
He don't know anything right?
Why is he here?
I froze in place. My heart was hammering, my fingers clutching the side of my dress tightly.
Did he find out something?
No no no. Act normal, Shanaya. Breathe. Don't panic.
i told myself like a broken mantra, and stepped forward. Every cell in my body screamed to run, but I forced my legs to move and reached him
Then his gaze landed on me.
And I crumbled.
Not physically - no - but something inside snapped, like a quiet bone breaking umder too much pressure. His eyes didn't blink. They just... held me there. Like shackles of air, binding me in place
I couldn't look him in the eyes. I looked down,
The cigar smoke was strong. I scrunched my nose a little.
He didn't say anything just flicked the cigar away and stepped on it. His movements were calm.
