"So" I drew a long breath and stared at Ash intently. "Are you even human?" I asked seriously and watched Ash raise his eyebrows, lips twitching as If he was going to laugh.
"Is that a serious question?" He says as Digger jumps onto his lap.
"Yes" I say. "Firstly, you just start talking to me for no reason. Which NO ONE does anymore. AND you introduce yourself as 'Ash' just Ash? Not Ashton?Ashley? Wait, are you the Police?" I hesitate and shake my head. "Then, you go all smart ass and admit you know French by scaring off the group of guys" I pause and watch Ash blank expression tear into my face. "And then when we miss the train your not even worried about your possessions but somehow you manage to convince a lorry driver to help us?"
Ash rolls his eyes, as if I was the crazy one. "You really have trust issues" He lets out a low chuckle and I shrug.
"Everyone does"
"Not me. The reason I talk to you is because you seemed lonely. So what? Yeah I know French just like you know how to drink coffee. And the lorry driver is just a decent guy" He explains.
"And saving the puppy?"
"That was for you" He replied simply.
That was for you. That was for you. That was for you. It played over and over in my mind. What could he have meant?
"And what about you" Ash frowns at me.
"Me?" I squeak and then clear my throat.
"You think you've got it all together. You were on a train on your own at four in the morning? You obviously have some great ambition your going to do because you freaked out about missing that train. Where are you even going? Why are you going all the way down south? You don't trust me, you don't trust anyone. Also what's with the ruck sack thing? We'll get it back, its no problem. You have so many secrets." Ash's rant at me completely surprised me, only because he was right. Of course he was right.
But to hell I was going to admit he was right.
"I'm not the secretive one!" I almost shout.
" I think that you try to seem like this confident girl on the outside so people take you seriously when on the inside your broken" Ash seemed to think he knew everything.
"Say that again" I gulp, unable to stop looking at him.
"B R O K E N" He spells it out and I have the urge to hit him.
Silence. I look at my lap, I wasn't going to say anything more. Sure enough, he'd got the last word, but it wasn't a pretty one.
-------------------------
The hour seemed to drag on forever, so when the man finally stopped and lifted the boot I was so happy I jumped out into the fresh air.
"The train" The man pointed across the road to the station and I could see the train! "You have four minutes until it leaves"
"Thank you thank you thank you!" I stop myself from hugging the guy but I can't wipe the smile off my face. "Thanks again!" I chirp, take Digger from Ash's arms and walk towards the train leaving Ash behind.
"No problem" The man says and I can hear Ash thanking him.
I reach the train and sigh with happiness, and then I realise I have Digger. On a train that doesn't allow pets. I glance at my watch nervously, two minutes until it leaves.
"Here" Ash takes him from me, reading my mind and pops him in his ruck sack.
"You need to be quiet Dig, I'm only zipping this up for thirty seconds. Ok?" I stare at the dog expecting a reply but Ash sighs with frustration so I zip the ruck sack up and we jump on the train, trying to avoid eye contact with Ash.
We walk through the cabins as quickly as possible so Digger doesn't make a noise and so I can find my bag. IF the bag is still there. It was important I found it.
I reach my cabin and run to my seat, MY BAG WAS THERE! I let out a little scream and a few people turned there head towards me. I noticed there were a few more people sitting up front. I sit down and clutch my bag, checking it quickly to see if everything was still there, and it was. I look over at Ash who's letting Digger out of his bag. He puts Digger on the seat next to him, nearest the window and gives him some food to munch on. Luckily you cant see him behind Ash.
"So your precious bag is there!" Ash smirks and I nod once, turning back to the window. "Oh come on you cant be mad? Seriously?"
"Seriously?" I mimic still not looking at him and hear Ash laugh.
"What's in your bag that you need so much?" He asks and I think.
"Very important things that I will need for the plan" The plan that included ME blowing up a terrorist plot that I happened to know where it was. I wish I could tell Ash, he'd finally take me seriously.
"The plan?" Ash asks
"The plan where I get revenge"
"What kind of revenge?" He questions. Maybe it was time to tell him. What harm could he do?
Slowly, I turn to Ash and look him straight in the eye. "The plan where I blow up a terrorist plot"
