Work took up most of Sky's time for the next week while she was off school and besides the lab work she spent her time talking to Percy and Nick. Percy was in his week off and he'd gone skiing in the mountains with some friends. Nick was a barista by day and a writer by night, which gave Sky and him a topic which made them fast friends. He asked a lot about Percy and Sky's relationship and she just answered with a laugh and no answer. The Friday dinner came around much quicker than she thought it would, but Amelia picked out a sweater and pants for her before sending her on her way.
"Drive around, she just got a cab to the T," Amelia said, adjusting her makeup and finding a cute pair of shoes.
"James says it's freezing out and if you don't wear boots he's going to come and jam them on your feet himself," Percy replied.
"Well, he can try, but I could just stab him with my heels." There was rustling on the other end and then a reply.
"You're welcome to wear those skyscraper heels during the fall, spring, and summer, but it's the middle of the winter in New England. Put on a pair of boots or so help me I will--" James warned.
"I already have on combat boots. Meet you on the curb," Amelia said, hanging up. Grabbing a warm coat, she made her way out of the apartment and out the door. A beat up Subaru was waiting on the curb and Amelia got in, kicking Percy into the backseat.
"You need a new car, you've had this one for at least eleven years."
"Going on twelve. Surprisingly it's still running," Percy commented.
"Excuse you. This car is my baby. Shut up."
"That's reassuring," Amelia laughed, turning around to face Percy.
"I swear if he doesn't get a new car, you have to kick his ass," she said. The blond grinned and nodded, glancing down at his phone. James quickly valet parked the car and Amelia and James got inside.
When Sky got there Percy was standing outside in a sports jacket and his old frayed waistcoat. Sky greeted him with a hug and they went inside.
"Percy Calix, party of four." The man at the podium looked down to the paper and Sky questioned, "Four?"
"Yes, the other two in your party already took a seat. If you'd follow me." They followed him through the busy restaurant further back into the building. James and Amelia were chatting at a table and as Sky and Percy walked into view they waved. Sky took the seat next to Amelia and glared at her.
"How the hell did you get here before me?" she asked suspiciously, looking at the boys across the table who were hiding behind menus.
"You took public transport," was her simple and angering answer.
"Just great. Best friend and boyfriend. Just great," Sky laughed, kicking Percy under the table. He was expecting it so he caught her ankle between his feet and trapped it.
"So, double date, huh?" Percy said, biting the inside of his lip. James rolled his eyes and sighed, his eyes flickering up to meet Amelia's and then back to the menu. Amelia just looked at Percy with a bored expression and broke off a piece of bread to eat.
"Hmm, what's for dinner then?" Sky asked. Amelia and James were going to crack eventually and it was going to happen tonight. They both sighed and said the same thing before looking at each other and smirking like Sky and Percy didn't know something.
"You guys are too obvious," she stated, turning back to converse with Percy. They talked for half an hour before the waiter came to ask them what they wanted. The four split two dishes and a conversation finally struck up, and of course it was about school.
