"Congratulations on the success of your newest clothing line. It was a hit on the runway in Paris!" Mrs. Johnson, my favorite photographer said to me.
"Thank you! I was really nervous about it at the time but I'm feeling much better now." I said sweetly
"The Olivia Benson collection by Krystal Designs.....it has a certain ring to it doesn't? Anyway I got some good shots of the clothes on the models during the show. I think you will like them." Mrs. Johnson continued.
"Great, thanks so much! I will have a look at them tomorrow. Good night." I said just as I was leaving.
She said goodbye right as I closed the door to the studio, and I was on my way back to my apartment.
The busy streets and noise of New York let me know I wasn't alone in the world as I crossed the street. I watched couples as I passed by restaurant windows. It may seem scary to some people to be a 25 year old single girl living in New York, one of the biggest cities in the world, but not to me. I came from a small town in Ohio. I grew up wanting to be here, to me the noise and people and terrible taxi drivers is a dream come true. I never fit in with the people of my home town. There was always a great division between people who were rich and people who barely got by. My parents always aired more on the side of having money, but we were never a snotty like some of the other families there. I was raised to be kind to everyone.
As I entered my apartment I was greeted by pitch blackness so I turn on the lights. I was a struggling designer when I first moved to New York, but I got a job at Krystal Designs soon after. I make pretty good money, but not enough to live in Trump Towers's or anything.
My apartment is has a little kitchen with granite countertops, a spacious living room, and industrial pipes along the ceiling. The bare brick showing on the wall give it a slightly more home feeling. My bedroom is just large enough for a queen sized bed and cabinets for clothes.
The quietness of the apartment is annoying to me so I turn on the tv. first thing that pops up is a interview with some model. I don't really care what's on tv as long as there is some kind of noise in this place so I leave it on.
"We are here with an exclusive interview with model Charlotte Richards. So news broke last month that you and Harry Styles have called it quits on your relationship. What led up to that?" The interviewer asked.
"Well he is just such a player, you know? I'm a model and I couldn't satisfy him. He never made time for me. He always had more important this to do it seemed." Charlotte answered with a smug grin.
"People said at the beginning of your relationship with him that it was all a publicity stunt to help your career. You were relatively unknown as a model before your relationship with him, so was this all just you playing him to help your career?" Asked the interviewer.
"Well I don't think dating him necessarily hurt my career." And with that one statement I knew she played him, and because of that I feel sorry for Harry.
I've never met him personally, but I know people who have and they always said he was a really nice guy. It must be hard to date when your such a high profile celebrity. Then again how would I know what it's even like to date anybody. Yes, I have had boyfriends before in high school and I got one when I was first moved here to New York, but after that my career started taking off and I got busy. I started focusing a lot on my career and here we are. I'm one of the top designers at my agency, but I'm all alone. What's the point if there is no one there for you to share your success with.
Suddenly I felt my phone buzz. I looked down to see I received a text from my best friend Ed. Yes, Ed Sheeran is my best friend. We met when I was in London for a fashion show he preformed at.
Ed: Hey I'm in New York for the next couple of days. Do you want go get dinner tonight?
Olivia: Sure. I just got home from work. Should we meet at the diner on the corner of 5th?
Ed: Ok sounds great :)
And with that I turned off the tv grabbed my coat and headed out the door.
