When Ruby woke up the next day, Michael's arm securely wrapped around her waist, keeping her face close to his. She spent a good twenty minutes just watching him sleep, the way his eyelashes fluttered and his messy hair being swept across his face made her realise how much she actually loved him. With a sigh, she whispered, "I have to tell him today." Then, careful not to disturb Michael, she got out of bed and went to take a shower. She got ready and left a note on the pillow next to Michael, explaining that she was going out. After giving him a quick kiss on the forehead, she left the apartment.
The onesie stared back at her like a bad reflection. She had bought a simple black one, but took it to the mall to have it custom printed. It was going to have 'Daddy's Future Tattoo' written down the middle. The guy at the kiosk had given her a weird look, but had congratulated her and explained that it would take about a half hour for the onesie to be done.
"Thanks," she smiled at him, then decided that she would have to get something while being at the mall. It was weird being there by herself; usually she'd have one of the other girls with her. While she wandered around, she kept thinking about Michael's reaction would be like, which really freaked her out.
She opened the door, seeing Michael on the couch with a sandwich in his hand. "Hey, babe."
"Where were you this morning?"
"I had something to pick up at the mall." She tilted her head to the side. "What's up with the third degree?"
He held the note up, "What do you need to tell me, Ruby?"
She sighed, deciding that now would be the best time to tell him if she was going to. "Michael, you love me right?" His silence made her worry, but she kept going. "I'm pregnant."
"Madi, no." Ashton was on his knees, gripping his wife's thighs and begging like a puppy.
She sighed, "Ash, I can't do this anymore. It's not good for Hudson either."
Tears were rolling down his face. His entire life was collapsing in front of him. "Babe, I can change. We can make this work."
Another sigh, this time with an eye roll to compliment it. "Ashton, you've said that for years. Nothing has changed. Do you even love me anymore?"
Her words cut like dagger stabbed through his heart. The shock brought him to land on his heels. "What? Of course I love you."
She brought her eyes up from her husband to the wall and stated, "Ashton, I want a divorce."
"Fuck... Did you have to use the D-word? That means it's like actually over."
"Ash, we can't keep this from them anymore. We've been separated for months. I'm sorry..." Just like that. She was gone.
