It was 4:37 a.m. and I heard the shuffling of doctors and nurses in my new room. I sat up and one of the doctors sat down at the foot of my bed. He said to me in a sorrowful tone, "MaryAnna I'm sorry to inform you but your room mate is having a heart right now and is being rushed to the ER. By the looks of it, these will be her last few hours.."
Right then my heart broke. I didn't even know the woman that much, but just the thought of her... I didn't even finish the thought.
"Just get some rest and we will update you on her in the morning."
It took me about 30 minutes to fall back asleep, but when I did, ohhh I slept hard.
