I heard a loud thump coming from the corner of my room. Reaching for a makeshift weapon, I blindly walked to the light switch. I flicked it on quickly, "Alex?" Alex was curled up in a fetal position underneath my window. His hair was messy and he wore his Ravens sweatshirt . "You were planning on attacking me with a hairbrush?" he whispered, getting up. "Jesus Alex, you are always so loud," I said, sitting back down in my bed. "Sorry," he smirked and sat down next to me. "Nice hair, Alice," he said, chuckling. "Shut up. Some people sleep at night." I muttered.
"Remember when we were in elementary school and you peed on that kid Jeramy because he made you angry?" Alex burst into laughter and I hit his stomach. "Oh god Alex!! Why do you remember the most embarrassing things about me?!" I buried my face in his neck. "That was the day I decided we would be best friends forever," he said between gasps of breath. I glared at him, hoping somehow I would be able to burn him with my laser powers. It didn't work.
"You look like you are about to poo yourself, ya silly," Alex said. "Nooo," I said. "I'm just hungry." I jumped off my bed and walked to the door. Alex got up a followed me down the stairs. Alex plopped himself onto the couch and turned on the TV. I went to the kitchen and grabbed some Cheetos and Oreos. I checked the clock on the oven. It was 3:40am. "Do you really think staying up this late is the best considering what we have to do tomorrow," I said, sitting next to him. "Ugh," he groaned, "don't be a party pooper Alice. We can sleep on the plane."
Alex had been sneaking into my house since we were ten. Our parents didn't mind it, Alex and I had known each other since we were in first grade. I glanced at Alex, he stuffed two Oreos into his mouth. "You looked tired," he said. I nodded, he patted his lap where I placed my head. He slung a blanket over me, "love you Alice.'"
"Love you more, Lex."
"Alice wake up!" Alex yelled. I got stood up, the blanket falling to the floor. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I heard voices coming from the kitchen where I found Alex and my mom. He was sitting on the counter, a bowl of Froot Loops in his hands. "Morning sweetie," my mom said, her back to me. I grunted and climbed onto the counter. "You look dead," Alex said through a mouthful of cereal. "Thanks. Girls love to hear that," I mumbled. "Don't be so whiney. It's 5:30am, no big deal," he said. I glared at him and grabbed his bowl. "Hey!" He whined. I took a big spoonful then handed it back to him. I hopped off the counter, "I'm gonna go get dressed," I said walking out of the kitchen. "She's a joy, huh?" I heard my mom say.
After climbing up the stairs, I finally made it to my bathroom. Lex was right, I did look dead. Taking care of the situation, I applied my concealer and foundation to my pale face. I fixed my long light brown hair and threw on a pair of black skinny jeans and a Blink 182 shirt with the sleeves rolled up.
I went to my room and gathered up my luggage and other bags and lugged them down the stairs. Alex had already had his things by the door and had changed into skinny jeans. "Did you already said goodbye to your parents, Alexander?" My mom asked as she grabbed her keys and coat. "Yeah and I'm sure I'll get at least ten calls for my mom before I even get to the airport," He said, following my mom out the door.
It was a quick ride to the airport. I struggled to keep my eyes open and groaned when I saw Mr Grant ushering the student inside. "It's going to be fun, Alice. I'm gonna be there," Alex said, placing our luggage down on the cart. I said goodbye to my mom and she placed a wet kiss on mine and Jacks cheek. "Tell your French teacher to keep an eye on you two, and, Alex, no sneaking," she said before driving off.
Lex sighed and looped his arm around mine. "Ah nice to see you Mr. Gaskarth and Ms. McCall," Mr. Grant said, making a check by our names, "meet up with the rest of your classmates in the lobby."
