‘How did I ever get sucked into this?’ I thought bitterly, my head resting on the desk, my black hair falling in front of my face.
It was really uncomfortable that I was eighteen, and still a Genin. It wasn’t that I wasn’t any good; it was just that the rest of my team was killed during a mission right before the Chunin Exams, and I wasn’t reassigned until now.
I groaned in irritation as the pink-haired girl yelled at the hyper blonde. "Cut it out, Naruto!"
He was looking out the door for our sensei anxiously, and exclaimed, “Why are we the only cell who’s teacher hasn’t shown up yet?" I sighed softly as he continued ranting, "All the other teams have already gone off with their teachers. Even Iruka-sensei has gone!"
"Hey! What are you up to, Naruto?" Pinky asked, seeing Naruto wedge an eraser in the crack of the door, snickering as he did.
I lifted my head off of the desk, and watched him, finding nothing else better to do. ‘This might be interesting.’
"It’s what he gets for making us wait!!" He exclaimed, hopping off of the table he had used.
"Grow up!" Pinky shouted, placing her hands on her hips. "I want no part of it!" I could easily tell she was lying.
The black-haired kid scoffed, "No way could a superior shinobi be caught in a simple booby trap!" Someone started to open the door, and walked in the room, immediately getting hit on top of the head with the eraser. I smiled, and bit back a laugh.
"Gotcha! Good one!" Naruto exclaimed, laughing and pointing a finger at the man.
I rolled my blue eyes as Pinky tried to apologize, "I’m sorry, Sensei. I tried to stop him, but Naruto…"
The silver-haired Jounin put a hand under his chin, his visible eye closed. His headband covered his left eye, while the black mask he wore covered the lower part of his face, and his nose. "Hmm…how shall I put this? Based on my first impression, I’d have to say…I hate you!"
"Great…" I muttered under my breath, ‘Nice first impression.’
He then led us up to a rooftop, and leaned against the railing. The rest of us sat on the ground. I wasn’t really paying attention to any particular thing until he started to speak. "Now, I’d like you all to tell us a little about yourselves."
"Like what?" Pinky asked.
"…You know. The usual. Your favorite thing…what you hate the most…dreams, ambitions, hobbies, things like that." He explained simply.
Naruto stated, looking confused, "Help us out here, coach. You go first. Show us how it’s done."
"That’s right…after all; you’re a complete stranger to us…a mystery." Pinky added.
"Oh…me? My name is Hatake Kakashi. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t feel like talking about his likes and dislikes! My dreams for the future are none of your business…but anyways, I have lots of hobbies…"
‘That helps…’ I thought mockingly, resting my chin in the palm of my hand.
Naruto tried to make it seem better by saying, "Hey…he said a lot…"
"But all we really learned was his name." Pinky finished.
"Now it’s your turn, starting with you on the right." Kakashi instructed.
Naruto perked up, "Me, right? My name is Uzumaki Naruto! What I like is instant cup ramen! What I like ever better is when Iruka-sensei treats me to ramen as the Ichiraku Noodle Bar!! What I hate is the three-minute wait after I pour in the boiling water. My dream is to one day…be a better shinobi than Lord Hokage!! And then all the villagers will have to acknowledge my existence at last!!"
