Luke's P.O.V
I groaned as my alarm clock went off, immediately hating school for having us up so early, whatever fuck them. I hit snooze so I could sleep for a couple more minutes. Apparently my mum didn't like that.
"Luke get your lazy ass up! Your going to be late for school! " I sighed and reluctantly got up and blindly put on clothes, an all time low sweatshirt and black skinny jeans. I decided to add a beanie because my hair was not cooperative and I was to lazy to fix it. I grabbed my phone and backpack and trudged down stairs. I grabbed an apple and my keys and went to walk out the door when my mum stood in front of the door like a fucking army general.
"Mum, I have to leave." She scowled.
"I can't be your personal alarm clock every morning do you understand that?" I nodded and she moved out of the way. I walked out into the cold morning air and shivered. I got in my car and blasted the heat, while backing out of the driveway. As I was driving it started to snow and I groaned. Why in the hell couldn't it wait till I got to school? I drove slowly, only being able to see 5 feet in front of me. By the time I got in the parking lot I was 12 minutes late. Great. Fan - fucking - tastic. I rushed to the doors and ran inside sprinting to my first class. Once I was almost there, I heard a slam and someone whimpering.
"Fucking fag, why don't you just kill yourself already? Your a nobody, you are worthless." Another slam. I walked around the corner to see a guy being held up against the lockers with tears streaming down his face. There were 3 other guys surrounding him, the one holding him was none other than Michael Clifford.
"P-please it h-hurts." The guy had tears rolling down his cheeks and instantly my heart broke at the sight. Before I knew what I was doing, I walked over and yanked Michael off the boy.
"What the hell is your problem?!" Michael just laughed.
"You want to stand up for this worthless piece of crap?" I glared hard at him.
"He's not worthless, now leave him alone." Michael just laughed and walked away, his friends following. I looked at the boy and frowned, he was sitting on the floor still crying a little. I walked closer to him and bent down. "What's your name?" He looked up at me with his hazel eyes.
"A-ashton." I smiled.
"Hi Ashton, i'm Luke. Are you okay? Did they hurt you bad?" He shook his head.
"Why did you help me?" I frowned.
"Why wouldn't I?" He frowned.
"Because no one likes me in this school, I started here 3 days ago and everyone is bullying me." He looked at the ground. I lifted his chin up so he was looking at me and saw tears still in his eyes.
"Ash, it doesn't matter what they think, they don't know you. But I and can be your friend if you want, and if it helps I am different too. I am proudly gay." I smiled and stood up pulling Ashton with me.
"Thank you, Luke we should head to class.I already made you late enough." With that Ashton started walking in the direction we needed to go and I followed, matching my normally fast pace with his slow pace. But I can't blame him, I do have long legs. When we got there we were scolded by the teacher.
"Luke Hemmings and Ashton Irwin, care to explain why you're 15 minutes late?" I looked over to Ashton, who looked at me with a pleading look silently telling me not to say anything.
"I uh- we were driving together and then my car broke down so we walked the rest of the way." The teacher rolled his eyes and pointed to our seats.
"Sit down, I'll let you guys off with a warning. Now, where were we-ah! Yes, the French Revolution..." I spaced out for the rest of the class which probably wasn't a good idea seeing as we had an exam next week. But I couldn't stop myself from looking over at Ashton who sat next to me. How did I not notice him in this class before? Well, he just started here 3 days ago but still. I must have zoned off for the rest of class because the bell rung and I looked up to see everyone leaving. I stood up and grabbed my backpack, then looked over to Ashton's desk where he was putting his things away. Being the bold person I am, I tapped his shoulder. He looked up and gave me an obviously fake smile.
"Hey, Luke." He grabbed his bag and started walking towards the door and into the hallway.
"Don't act like nothing happened Ashton, you got beat up. Where did they hit you?" He kept walking and looked at the floor.
"It's okay Luke, they just punched me in my stomach but I am fine, their name calling and what they said to me hurt the most." He sighed. I grabbed his arm to stop him. He looks confused but I dragged him into a janitors closet and locked the door.
"Show me your stomach, Ashton." I looked at him with sad eyes.
"I'm fine Luke, you don't need to worry about me." I shrugged off my backpack and walked closer to him.
"Ashton, I know we just met, but I care about you." He looked down a blush coating his cheeks. I slowly put my hands at the edge of his shirt. Then I slowly began to lift it up and gasped at the dark purple bruise starting to form. I looked up at him to see tears forming in his eyes. I dropped his shirt and pulled him close, putting my arms around him.
"Luke...We should get to class." He mumbled still in my arms. I let go of him and grabbed my backpack.
"What's your next period?" He pulled out his schedule.
"Uhm..Mr. Fresnow." I smiled.
" I have him too, how did I not notice such a cute guy in my class?" He blushed again and opened the janitors closet. I followed behind him to English and once we entered the classroom I sat in my usual seat and Ashton went to go sit in the back but stopped him.
"Yes, Luke?" He giggled.
"Sit next to me?" He looked wearily at the desk obviously not used to being in the front but then sat down. He took out what looked like a journal and began to focus on what he was writing. I took out my notebook knowing we'd have to take notes and waited for the next 46 minutes of hell to start. At least Ash is next to me.
