Woo, long chapter! 2321 words! 😀

I was shaking when we went back to the cells. Other than that, I might have looked calm, but in my head I was panicking. We walked in silence.

Halfway to the cells, we went round a corner to find Simon, who must have taken a shortcut or something.

"Forgot to tell you–you're being tested on the virus, not DNA. The human DNA had killed all aardvarks it has been used on except 2."

I didn't say anything. I had just been condemned to a more horrible death than last time because I will know what's happening. Also, now I knew that Mrs Latin and George were in even more danger than I thought before.

This didn't help my chances of not panicking.

Steve said something like,"Abufupupubudub."

We went back to the cells.

It must have been obvious that the tea had done something to us because Lily said,"Stop panicking and tell me what happened."

I explained, only shaking and crying so much I had to stop seven times.

"Well let's escape in the evening. Problem solved."

Steve asked,"Plan?"

"Punch a guard, steal his keys and gun, run around destroying stuff until we find the exit?"
Steve said,"That's a better plan than our plan we made earlier for freeing the aardvarks from the camp."

We got bored after a few hours, so I yelled,"GUARDS!!!!!" at the top of my lungs.

Georgina The Guard stalked into the room, looking irritated that we'd interrupted her earplug session.
"What?"

"Why is there one of Henry VIII's royal gherkins in here?" I asked, pointing at a hundred-year-old wrinkly gherkin.

Georgina muttered something like,"The big film night is about to start, you idiot," and walked out.

As soon as she walked out, Steve and I
let out our cackles. When we had finished, Steve said,"Are you sure you haven't seen Derek in here? Maybe he put the gherkin here."

The other prisoners doubled their efforts to give us weird looks at the same time as staring at the gherkin. Lily asked who Derek was, and was smiling at end of it all, when we explained about the cheese in the shower and sink.

I checked my watch. It was 8. Suddenly serious, Lily said,"The film should be starting now. A guard will check on us soon so they don't have to pause the film later. We'll escape then."

My stomach felt like a radioactive washing machine full of trepidation socks.

Lily reminded us which sides of the cells opened as doors.
I thought about how we would take out the guard.
Steve picked up the gherkin to see if it was edible.

The guard came in. "Who wants sausages for tea?"
He put sausages/veggie sausages and broccoli into each of the cells.
"Guard? Come and look at this." Steve was punching then.
Steve held up the gherkin. It proved to be more helpful than I thought then. The guard, intrigued, came to to inspect the wrinkly gherkin. But not quite close enough.

Steve tried, "There's a red bit here, come closer."
The entire room held its breath.
The 'clever' guard came a foot closer, and Steve simultaneously struck the face and stomach.

The guard collapsed, groaning. Steve fished his keys out between the bars and held them up in triumph. A few people cheered.
