The sun rose on doomsday. Friday 14th August.
We were pacing around in our room. The disease was being released today, and there was nothing we could do about it!
Well, we could go and sabotage the disease stuff, but security was so high around there it'd be a suicide mission. We'd never get anything done.We were both restless. We wanted to do something. Like wee.
I was just starting my wee when Steve said, "Look. Simon's being invaded."
When I finished my wee, I looked out of the window to see approximately thirty tanks (they'd been attacked by Huvark forces and lost some), about two hundred men with assault rifles and four helicopter gunships on the horizon, in front of the sunrise. It looked like the army was British-led.
"It's five now, so they should be here at six... Simon will want to deploy the aardvarks as soon as possible. So we need to get Mrs Latin and George out as quickly as possible." I didn't mention that they could well have been injected with human DNA by now.
"Henry. Let's not focus on the whole disease thing. We'll wait until the army arrives for that. Now, we just save your aardvarks, OK?"
"OK."
"Let's go."
For the last time, we left the execution room. We made our way to the aardvarks' room.[Listen to Mission Impossible]
When we got the third floor, we slipped into a huge stream of guards going to defend the Huvark Lab. In the midst of the panic of the inevitable attack, no-one noticed two scared teenagers.
Eventually, we had to leave the safety of the steady stream of guards because we saw a sign to the aardvark room. But we were vulnerable going down that corridor, and it was obvious that we were there. It shouldn't have been much of a surprise when a gunshot rang out.
We broke into a run. We turned a corner and went into a random room and leant on the wall, gasping for breath. Steve said,"I wonder who that was...?"
I replied,"We probably don't know them."
I was unfortunately wrong. Very wrong. This person hated us more than anyone else in the world. And they wanted revenge for their leg.
Georgina appeared in the doorway, pointing a pistol at my head. "Hello, Henry. I've wanted to do this for a long time."I kept her talking while searching for any kind of weapon. "Georgina, since you're about to kill me, tell me this. When will Simon release the aardvarks?"
There weren't any weapons.
"As soon as possible. Ten past seven. The remaining aardvarks will be shot at six. That includes your two, by the way."This was good news. They were not being used as chemical weapons. But they were going to be shot in forty-five minutes.
"Why's everyone ignoring me?" It was the person who was with Georgina when she had looked in our execution room after the explosion."Tony, no-one knew you were there," Georgina sighed. Tony moved into the doorway. Georgina reluctantly made space.
Steve asked,"How long until the army arrives?"
Georgina answered,"You know just as well as I do. The helicopters are already fighting. Huvark is forming a defensive line."
Just then, I happened to look out of the window. I saw a British helicopter gunship firing at a Huvark one. A bullet or three zipped past the gunner. He recoiled, thinking he would be hit. The movement made the gun twist.
And the bullets shattered the window and thudded into the wall. None of us were hit though.
I took the chance. I grabbed Steve and, while Georgina and Tony were still shocked, pelted out of the room and down a seemingly endless corridor with no doors in it.
It was a short head start. Because of Georgina's injury, she couldn't go very quickly. Tony could, though.
