"3:25 am?" The alarm clocks red numbers beamed brightly as her eyes opened fully adjusting to the night. Luna's heart beat began to pick up as she glanced about her room . There was too much light. A feeling of abhorrence arose within her.
The closet door was wide open, the window curtains had not been shut, the moons light gleamed in casting horrid shadows.
Luna had not checked her room, she had fallen a sleep with hell knows what lurking in the bedroom. Following the moon's light Luna approached the light switch, relaxing her body almost instantly. Darting across the room her eyes closed, afraid of looking out the window and spotting a gruesome nightmare staring back at her.
She let her bare feet linger across the carpet as her hand slammed the closet door shut. She crept on all fours ready to lift the cover, but her ruler had not been where she left it.
Resting her weight on her knees Luna searched her bedroom floor for the long glittery pink instrument.
Luna tilted her head in curiosity, near the door leaves and dirt littered her black carpet. Her eyebrows furrowed in concentration. Luna's eyes grew instantly. Running into her bathroom Luna stood in front of her sink mirror. Looking intently at the girl that stared back at her.
A cold hand traced her face, feeling lightly around the clean and perfect area where a severe laceration should have been bestowed below her eye.
The overgrown shirt she was wearing was her regular pajama. Luna's fingers aggressively pulled away at the faded blue collar. Pale and unharmed skin stared back at her, no teeth marks or blood.
"Get a hold of yourself Luna! Reese probably stuck another one of moms sleeping pills into your drink, to make you pass out and stop pestering him." Out of the corner of her eye a small lump of dirty rags caught her attention.
Making her way slowly over to them Luna picked them up. Unraveling one of them only to quickly drop it as she took off running back into her room. With a shaking hand she reached for the cover that dangled at the beds corner. Clutching it Luna threw it over, it was empty.
Luna jolted to the closet opening it with force searching its dark corners for something, she wasn't sure of. Sighing she walked in defeat back over to her bed throwing herself face first into the furry blanket.
"It couldn't of been a dream." Turning over Luna let her hand dangle off the left side. Something warm and breathing stopped it from simply swaying in mid air.
Her finger tips graced unforgettable fur, not just any fur, but the kind she had dreamt about. Its silken bliss lingered on her fingers. Suppressing a scream Luna allowed herself to turn over coming face to face with a severely injured and sleeping giant.
She had been so oblivious to seeing him due to the fact that Luna's routine had never before called for her to check between The four foot space that separated a protruding wall and dresser from her bed. The animal had been laying uncomfortably within the small area.
Its head laying on its large paws, Its hind legs tucked neatly beneath its own body. The animals long tail curing and, sticking to the massacred side.
Luna dashed back into the bathroom checking her body thoroughly for any signs of wounds. Only small scratches lingered on her arms, neither hurting or stinging. Her body was so fresh and relaxed she had completely shrugged everything off about what had happened only hours ago.
There had been no proof of what had occurred in the forest, except for the blood soaked clothing and the giant animal in her room.
Now that she had thought about it Luna was able to sense a change within herself. It felt like she could accomplish anything.
Looking within the mirror Luna found herself, scared. Something deep inside pulled at her heart and soul begging, yearning, for her to do something to help the animal.
Luna didn't hesitate any longer, grabbing towels, warm water, and peroxide she quickly began to work. Using all her strength Luna pulled at the bed dragging it to the opposite wall. Kneeling down beside the animal she delicately moved its tail.
There was no way she would be able to move the animal even by just laying there the animal was still larger than her.
"How could i have not seen you? Was I really that ignorant?" She allowed a gentle hand to groom the wolf head letting it glide slowly. Thankful the animal had stayed.
Her hands began to move gracefully cleaning at the wound, removing dirt and the clear yellow liquid that had begun to seep out. Once the injury was clean she ran into the kitchen grabbing a first aid kit her mother had.
The wolf had stirred while she had been gone, laying in a far better position with its legs sprawled out in front of it laying on its unharmed side. Luna sprayed peroxide on the animal's torn hide letting it foam and clearing it out again with a moist towel, to spray it again until Luna was satisfied.
Opening the kit Luna pulled out Iodine, all the gauze, and wrapping they had, and metal clips. She didn't know if she had completed the process of cleaning in the correct order, but Luna was to worried to care the animal that laid before her saved her life. Trying to help was the least she could do for it.
Luna tainted the animals open flesh with the deep brown liquid, placing gauze above it, happy that by unfolding the pieces she found it to be more than enough to cover the large area.
Wrapping the animal had been the most difficult thing. Luna had to place her arm beneath the wolf, runt to the other side grab a hold of the wrap and throw it back over again.
The cycle continued several more times, taking up three rolls of the cloth wrapping. Luna placed two metal clips at the end, only hoping the work had paid off.
Luna carefully began the labor of cleaning her mess, picking up and throwing away any of the left over evidence of the nights nightmares away.
Her eyes focused on the alarm clocks red letters. 4:15, letting a yawn escape her lips, Luna peeked beneath her bed, dragging her cover along with her she checked the closet one last time closing and locking the door. She turned off the lights.
Throwing her tired body and cover beside the sleeping animal, Luna laid beside it resting her own back on the wolfs, placing herself snugly between it and the wall.
She could still smell its unique aroma just like in the dream, the only exception being that it was more over powering and real.
