2.1 The great thunder upon the land and the rolling tides upon the seas were felt by all the creatures of the world. The younger fled in fear, overwhelmed by the power unleashed by the union of the storm and the sky, leaving the tree for it shook wildly, bending though it did not break. They hid themselves in the shadows of the barren rocks and covered themselves with mud at the sight of the mountain and the swallowing sea, that they might not be seen.
2.2 The elder heard the sound, a clarion call they had not heard for much time and many days, and they paid heed, coming to greet those that were and were again. They saw the mountains rise and the oceans deep though the shadows were small and hidden places, escaping their notice, to the great elation of the younger who were afeared and mistrustful of the elder.
2.3 At the sight of the wings of the great creatures in the sky, the silent step of the creatures of the forest, and the pounding hooves of the creatures of the fields, the storm became a gentle rain and the sky burst forth in radiant light. A meeting in the mist, a greeting of those who endured and those who were returned, it was, and many were those who joined in celebration.
2.4 The sounds of jubilation echoed in the mountains and rippled the waters, bringing them forth to join the gathering but shadows grew deeper from the light that was cast. In the dark, the true sounds of joy and laughter were heard falsely by those who remained afraid, and their curiosity was denied them by themselves, refusing to venture forth and instead turning to jealous devices.
