Thursday rolled around and Lauren and I made our last preparations for us to leave. Our flight was at 6:00 PM, so we would have twenty-four hours before the first rehearsal. I woke up from my nap and checked the time. 5:20! I scanned the room and saw Lauren sleeping too. I quickly got up from the couch and shook her awake.

"Ugh what do you want?" Lauren said in an annoyed tone.

"Lauren, we have forty minutes until our flight takes off!"

"WHAT?" Lauren fumbled with her phone to check the time.

"It's 5:20 we have to go!" I grabbed a suitcase and my phone and flew out the door. I pulled open the trunk and shoved the suitcase in. Then I ran back in to help Lauren bring her suitcase outside and into the car. I took a quick look inside to make sure we weren't missing anything, then I slammed the door and locked it.

We got to the airport at 5:27. We ripped our luggage out of the trunk and ran inside. It took 8 minutes to get our bags weighed and sent to the plane. We ran up the escalators and straight to security. Of course, the line was huge. We asked the people in front of us if we could skip them because we had 20 minutes until our flight. We managed to skip about 4 people by doing this, but there were still about 10 people in front of us. We finally reached the front of the line and I walked straight through the metal detector. I stood at the other end and waited for Lauren to walk through. She was walking towards me when I heard a loud beep come through the machine.

"No no no no no this can't be happening right now" I mumbled frantically.

Lauren was clearly thinking the same thing as they pulled her to the side and patted her down. 9 minutes later they finally figured out that her ring was the culprit of the beeping. They had her take off the ring and walk back through. When no beep sounded, the security people finally let her go and I grabbed her hand to run toward our gate. There was just one problem...

"Umm where's our gate?" I ask.

"What is it called?"

"It's gate 2J" we were in front of gate 1A.

"You're joking right?" Lauren says defeated.

"Nope. Common we gotta try and make it." we sprint down the airport while counting off the letters. As we made it closer to 2J, the clock got closer to six. We finally reached our gate. I checked the time, 6:07. We approached our gate to see them closing the door.

"NOO" we both yelled at the same time and ran up to them.

"I'm sorry, they have already begun taking the gate away." the lady attending our gate said.

"They just closed the door, please is there something you can do?" Lauren pleaded.

"I'm sorry girls, once they close the doors it's over" she spoke apologetically.

"Well could you please check the next flight to Houston Texas?" I sighed. If there's no flights I swear...

"The next available flight to Houston Texas is tomorrow at 7 PM." My jaw dropped open.

I turned to Lauren, "How are we gonna get there?"

She sighed, "I don't know El."

"I guess we have to drive?" I googled how long it takes to drive from L.A. to Houston.

"22 hours to drive there!" Ughhh.

"I guess we better get going then." Lauren grabs my hand and we leave the airport to start our journey.

...

The drive wasn't as bad as I had expected. Little traffic and easy directions kept us flying down the highway. I had my phone hooked up to the car radio and put all of my music on shuffle. Lauren and I alternated with driving so that the other could sleep. I slept very little when I wasn't driving, I was thinking too much.

"Why do you think Michael was staring at me at the auditions?" I spoke the one question on my mind.

"What?"

"Why do you think Michael was staring at me?" I repeat.

"Because you're adorable"

"Aww thanks, but all the girls in there were pretty..." I trail off.

"I don't know hon, you'll find out soon enough." she says as she pulls into the parking lot of an apartment complex.

"We're here!"
