Book: Basic Instinct
Chapter 7: She Goes On A Date
Word Count: 2499In the dark cemetery there was a tiny blonde fighting a vampire. She kicks him in the face with a high roundhouse kick, forcing him to step backward to keep his balance. The vampire does a jumping half-twisting crescent kick, which Buffy ducks. He tries to punch her twice but she blocks both times. He went to punch her again and she grabs hold of his arm and kicks him in the face with a high front snap kick. Letting go of the vampires arm, Buffy punches him in the stomach and follows with a punch to his face, sending him to the ground.
"We haven't been properly introduced." She says pulling out her stake. "I'm Buffy and you're history!" She plunges the stake into him and he bursts into dust.
Alec came from behind her clapping his hands. "Well, that was witty." He said.
She turned around and looked at him with raised eyebrows. "You know instead of just sitting there you could help." She said.
Alec put his hands up in defense. "I'm not aloud. Watchers orders." He said and nodded his head towards Giles who was watching them. "Which reminds me, what am I even doing here?" Alec asked.
"In case there's more danger then anticipated. But we do need to talk about your poor technique." Giles said and walked around Buffy. "Prioritizing, sub-par... Execution was adequate, but a bit to bloody for my taste."
Buffy narrowed her eyes and placed her hands on her hips. "Giles, don't mention it. It was my pleasure to make the world safe for humanity again." She said sarcastically.
"I'm not saying that your methods are without merit, it's, uh, y-you're spending too much time and energy. It should simply be plunge and move on. Plunge and..." Giles trailed off when he notices something on the ground. He bends down and picks it up carefully.
Buffy and Alec got a closer look and saw that it was a shiny ring. "Oh, that's great! I kill 'em, you fence their stuff." Giles looked up and gave her a look. "What is it?"
"I don't know." Giles answered twisting the shiny ring in his fingers.
"Then why does it bother you?" Alec asked trying to get better look at it.
"Well, I... I thought this vampire was just on random kill, but it may be something else." Giles said.
"Something big?"
"Yes. I'd best consult my books." Giles said.
"And if it's not important we can still fence it, right?" Alec asked hopefully. He slumped his shoulders when he saw the look his uncle was giving him. "I'll take that as a no." He said.
"Yeah."
"Yeah." Alec said, disappointed.
