AUTHORS NOTE: I DONT HAVE MUCH TIME SO I CANT DO MUCH PROOFREADING BYE
I had just finished my part time job and I was stuck waiting outside. My friend who always drove me was late, once again, and everyone else had left. The cold December air hit my cheeks, causing me to shiver.
Suddenly something bright started flashing from around the corner. I was curious and went to go check it out. Turning the corner I uncertainly shouted, "Hello," into the empty garden.
The cold breeze started to quickly pick up and everything around me, apart from the wind, froze. I opened my mouth to scream, but nothing came out.
The light started to expand and spin, pulling me towards it.
The wind was still blowing strongly in my ears as I fought against the current. No matter how hard I fought it seemed that the portal was stronger. In a few minutes I had been completely pulled through.
I sat dazed and dizzy on a cold concrete floor. A soft green dinosaur hoodie and skinny jeans had replaced my uniform and my hair had come out of the ponytail. I could feel a set of eyes burning into the back of my head.
I quickly turned, fear ripping through my body "W-who are you," I meant to scream, but my voice faltered and it came out as more of a whimper. "Rythian. My name is Rythian," The man said. He stepped out of the shadows and I couldn't help letting out a small gasp. His eyes were a bright purple.
He responded with a glare followed by a look of regret.
"What's wro-" I started to ask, standing up.
"Nothing," He said quickly, cutting me off.
I gave him a questioning look, but shrugged it off.
"Where am I," I questioned with fear.
Rythian smiled to himself and proudly said, "You're in a whole different dimension!" I froze.
A different dimension! I thought to myself.
"What about my old life?" I asked.
"Oh, well life will continue as normal with a clone of you in your place," He said casually. I was suddenly hit by a wave of anger.
"A clone! My friends and family will live their lives thinking that it's me that they are talking to when it's really some flipping clone that you sent to take my place! I want to go back! Send me ba-," I screeched only to be silenced with a wave of Rythian's hand. My eyes widened and the color drained from my face.
"One, I wasn't the person who chose you even if I was the one who said the spell that brought you here. Two, it isn't my fault you were replaced with a clone. And 3, I really am sorry, but if you hadn't come my entire world would be in, lets just say, a lot of trouble... Do you forgive me," He said solemnly.
I opened my mouth to speak, forgetting that he had removed my ability to talk, but quickly resorted to slowly nodding. "Sorry I had to take your voice. Someone might have heard you," He said and with a small hand motion my voice returned. "How can you do that," I questioned suspiciously. "Oh, well you see... I'm a very skilled mage," he whispered while scratching the back of his neck.
"Rythian," I asked in a quiet voice after taking in what he had just said. "Yeah," He responded. "I have two questions," I said. "Fire away," He exclaimed with a smile. "Well one, how long do I have to stay here and two, how old are you anyways, I mean you look rather young but... yeah," I asked shyly. "Well the answer to your first question is impossible for me to guess. You have the choice to return home when you complete the prophecy," he answered, "Your second question, however, is irrelevant because in this dimension, unlike your home, there is no age. Basically everyone is the same age and they live forever."
I was shocked and didn't know what to say. "But why don't you count the years you are alive," I questioned after an awkward silence. Well you see," He started, "in this world dying is rather common, but we just respawn," I quickly racked my brain for the little video game knowledge I possessed. "Respawn, Coming back to life after being killed in a video game," I said with more of a questioning tone then one that would have shown I knew more then I really did.
"This isn't a game, this is my home," Rythian yelled angrily, causing me back off and press against the farthest wall. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell and scare you," He muttered through his teeth before perking up again, "Now come on and I'll show you around my area, just try not to be seen!"
