I stormed through the black gates that blocked the entrance of my school. The bland buildings and surrounding tall gate made the school resemble a prison. It like prison as well.
Unlike every other pupil that attended Woodmouse High, I never stopped to chat with a fellow student or faculty member. I just went to my locker and exchanged my biology binder with my English notebook. I waste no time getting to my English class.
Since Michael and I get to school half an hour before the school day begins so he can socialize with his friends, none of the teachers have opened their classrooms to students yet. Therefore, I was left standing awkwardly outside Mrs.Z's door until the bell rang for first period.Once the bell rang, Mrs.Z opened the classroom door. I rushed in and bolted to my secluded seat in the far back corner of the classroom. I loved this seat. I was alone, completely isolated from the other students in the class. Most of these students were seniors. There were a few fellow juniors and one nerdy sophomore but they all ignored me the same. Six minutes later the late bell rang. Mrs.Z began her lesson on some grammatical element I already knew perfected.
Not long into the lecture Mrs.Z got interrupted by the classroom door swinging open. A blond boy stood awkwardly in the doorway. I hid my face with my hair hoping he didn't see me. This tall blond kid happened to be Luke, my brother's best friend.
"Um, I got switched into this class", he nervously spoke. He handed what appeared to be his schedule to Mrs.Z. "Do you have a pass?" she sternly asked. "Umm, no. Mr. Castro said I didn't need one", he replied. "Oh so you just listen to what Mr. Castro says", she exclaimed. "Well he is an administrator. I'm pretty sure he knows he knows what he's talking about", Luke joked causing the class to laugh. I look up briefly to see Mrs.Z glaring at the boy. "Just go find a seat", she snarled.Luke began walking to the back of the classroom. No please don't sit back here. I thought. No, no, no. Luke began to lower his lanky self into the seat next to mine. Shìt.
"Is she always such a bìtch", he whispered to me chuckling. I meekly nodded, my hair still covering my face. If he knew who I was he would definitely tease me. Who know what personal things Michael has told him about me.
"I'm Luke by the way", he stated. I nodded. "Wow this class is boring", he laughed awkwardly. I nodded. "I'm trying to start a conversation you know", he snapped. I nodded. "You're supposed to talk back usually", he encouraged frustration growing in his voice. I nodded. "Whatever", he exasperated turning back to face the board. I sighed in relief, happy that he stopped talking to me.
As Mrs.Z continued the dull lesson, I began to doodle in the margins of my journal. "Ms. Clifford! Pay attention", Mrs.Z yelled. I snapped my head up and muttered a "Yes ma'am."
"Oh my god", Luke gawked. "Bug Girl. I didn't know that was you", he exclaimed. God dammit Mrs.Z. I rolled my eyes at Luke. "Michael is going to find this hilarious", he boasted. I whipped my head to face him. "No please don't tell him. He won't let me live it down", I pleaded. "Alright fine, calm down", Luke chuckled. My face was flushed from embarrassment.
Luke and I quit chatting and began listening to Mrs.Z. "Alright now your assignment", she began riffling through her desk for a stack of papers. "You and your shoulder partner will work together to complete the worksheet I am passing out now. And Ms. Clifford, now since Mr. Hemming has joined our class you can finally have a partner", she explained. I frowned. Out of the corner of my eyes I could see Luke staring at me grinning. "Hey partner", he greeted.
Soon Mrs.Z reached us in the back of the classroom and handed us the worksheet. "So let's get started." Luke rubbed his hands together. "I can do it all and give you the answers", I suggested. "No way Bug Girl. I don't cheat", he exclaimed. "Well, it's not really chea-" "I don't cheat", he interrupted. I sighed in defeat and we began working. Not long into the worksheet Luke and I got distracted and began chatting aimlessly.
"Wait, so you and my brother are starting a band?" I clarified. He nodded. "It's not just us, Calum and Ashton our other two friends are also in the band" he added. "Does this band have a name?" I asked. "Um, we're deciding between two", he answered. "Well, what are they", I encouraged. "Five Seconds of Summer and uh..." he paused, "Bromance" He cringed. I furrowed my eyebrows. "Bromance?" I questioned. Luke threw his hands up in defense, "Michael's idea." "He's such an idiot", I rolled my eyes. "I like your shirt by the way", Luke pointed out. I looked down at my tattered Twenty-one Pilots shirt. "Thanks. They're one of my favorite bands. Josh Dun is bae" I joked. He just laughed.
I never realized how attractive Luke was. His eyes were so bright and happy. His gorgeous smile was surrounded with some stubble that only added to his attractiveness. He carried a contagious laugh and a husky voice. Bring. My thoughts were cut off by the shrill ring of the school bell.
"If you didn't finish the worksheet turn it in tomorrow", Mrs.Z called at the rushing children. I began gathering my belongings. "Hey are you doing anything after school", Luke asked. "No, why", I questioned. He held up the paper with two out of twenty short response questions filled out, "So we can finish the assignment." "Oh yeah, right the worksheet." "Would you be able to come over after school? Like to my house or something", he scratched the back of his neck nervously. "I ride the bus so I don't know how I would get there." Somehow Luke and I ended up by my locker. I looked around to see all eyes on us. "I could drive you." I nodded. I almost didn't hear Luke's question over all of the whispers. "Don't you drive to school though?" "Yeah but its Monday and Michael has work", I informed Luke. "Oh", he nodded, "Well, how about we meet by the gate in front of the student parking lot", he suggested. "Sounds good", I replied. "Alright, see you then Bug Girl", he winked. Yes you heard that right, winked. I could feel my face heating up. The whispers only grew as I retrieved my things for my next class and headed that way.
Whoop whoop I updated. Alright so um love you guys as always so yeah :)
