Souji was peering out the window in his room, admiring the environment around his new home. There were flowers of vibrant colours, a crystal clear river flowing into a nearby lake, and the buildings had an atmosphere that reminded him of fond memories. He had a feeling that things were going to be different this time.

Ever since he was a young boy, his parents have moved from one city to another. Souji didn't care about that. What he cared about is the fact that his parents were hardly ever home. Most of the time they would leave him alone, starved of any affection. Speaking of affection, having friends was useless to him since he moves every year. Occasionally there would be those rare hangout invites or a high five for doing a good job in P.E but other than that he found no interaction with other people. He let out a sigh that was louder then intended. Snapping out of his thoughts he realized he still needed to unpack his things from the boxes.

I wonder if I even need all of this stuff?

He held a cardboard cutter in one hand and proceeded to slice the tape on the boxes. Souji didn't have much things, most of the items he owned were books and figurines he made in his spare time. Sadly, his life was just that boring. In no time at all he finished unpacking and placed the items on whatever space was available. He could redecorate later. Right now, it was 7 o'clock in the morning and he was starving.

Souji quietly crept down the stairs wondering if his parents were up or not. Thank goodness it was summer vacation and he didn't need to worry about studying along with his increasing problems. As he made his way to the kitchen there was a note on the counter.

"We're at a business meeting. We left you fifty dollars to use for later. We will be back soon!" -Love Mother and Father. At least they left some breakfast this time. Their definition of "soon" however is an understatement. They could take hours and perhaps even days to come back. If it takes days then he's going to need to survive on his own. Luckily, as he was learning to be self sufficient he quickly picked up cooking. The boy didn't particularly think his cooking is anything special, but his former home economic teachers certainly disagreed. No matter, he can't cook anything without any food in the first place.

This would be a good chance to explore the neighborhood anyway.

First thing to do would be to change out of his nightwear.

Ten minutes later and the silver haired teen is at his doorstep, tying the laces on his brown leather boots. He decided to wear a white dress shirt and jeans. Nothing special, just the way he likes it. Stuffing the fifty dollars in a small knapsack he went on a journey to find a grocery store. Flipping out his phone he activated a map app to help. Not that it did anything, he ended up in a rural part of town next to a cherry blossom tree. Very high chance that this wasn't the place he was looking for. He was about to turn back to the way he came from but he noticed a blue haired boy approaching the tree. He had a pair of headphones with him and was most likely listening to it. When the other noticed the boy opposite of him, he gazed at him with a blank stare.

   "Uh, hello?"

"...." It's obvious the stranger didn't want to talk. After a few more seconds of staring at each other, the stranger climbed up the tree and onto one of its branches. What a great way to know the locals. Now that he had a better look of the boy he noticed how lifeless his one visible eye was. That eye has seen a lot of this cruel world. He also seemed to be around Souji's age. The other must have noticed how long he was staring at him because he took off his headphones and asked, "...Do you need something?"

"Know any good shopping places?" It was obvious he wasn't going to find what he was looking for on his own. What surprised him was the simple smile he received from the boy up in the tree. It was a nice smile, even though it was short and sweet.

"I see, you're new here." The stranger in question leapt down from his cozy spot on the branch and walked over.

   "What's your name?"

"Minato Arisato." he responded while brushing a long bang off his face. Unlike his other visible eye, the one hidden beneath that long bang had some life in it. A spark of light in the endless plethora of dark blue. "Yours?"

"Souji Seta," he added with a sheepish smile on his face, "Do you live around here?" Minato didn't respond and looked back towards the tree. That was when Souji's eye caught a look at his uniform. That black jacket and ribbon could belong only to one school.

Gekkoukan High.
