Missing Keys

Chapter 7

Waking up alone isn't the best way to start the day. Eren stepped out of the tent to find a note on the picnic table.

Dear Eren

Armin and Mikasa went off for a hike and I'm heading back into town to pick up Zander and to get more food. Please and I mean PLEASE don't go off looking for bears.

Love, Mom

After reading the note Eren crumpled it up and threw it into the garbage bag. They didn't make breakfast for him and there was nothing left over. How was Eren suppose to feed himself when there was no food.

"Armin, Look at this!" Mikasa called out and Armin rushed to her side. She pointed at a deer that stood 7 meters away from them, it stared at them and looked as if it was frozen in time "it's beautiful." Armin awed "only if Eren was here to take a picture," Mikasa sighed

"but then again if we did wake him up he would have our heads."

"Yeah but if he was hear he would try to catch the deer."

"True."

The duo left the deer and continued to down the trail and occasionally stopped to look at wild flowers and other animals. Armin would make jokes about them running into a unicorn and that it will whisk them away to a far away land like in fairy tales. They couldn't think of unicorns the same from then on. When reaching the end of the trail which lead to the top of a hill they sat down an took a break.

From the hill they saw the whole lake which was really small but still really pretty. They spotted out all the little buildings like the park or the showers and washrooms, they managed to find their camp site.

Mikasa leaned back and took in a deep breath, "Armin, can I ask you something?" Armin's attention went it Mikasa and gave her a go ahead nod.

"Is it true that you like my little friend?" She smirked at him. Armin knew who she was talking about and his face lit up "Yo-you know?" He stammered.

"Yeah."

"Who told you?"

"No one, I found out on my own."

"Of course you did."

"Anyway... I can set you two up for a date once we get back."

"But what if she do--"

"Trust me, she will go."

Armin pressed his lips into a firm line "Was it that obvious?" He questioned pulling his knees up to his chest. She shook her head.

"No it was kinda hard actually, Annie just came up front about it then Eren talked about what happened at the rink. She also told me that you two have talking a lot this summer."

"Yeah, she's really nice. I really like talking to her and I---"

Tomato Armin was activated.

"Well she likes you too so who knows~ Armin is gonna have a girlfriend~!"

"Okay... So now you tell me who you like."

"Oh. I don't like anyone, don't find anyone attractive... You know what I mean?"

"Yeah I understand. Eren tells me that a lot of people like you."

"It's true! I really don't see why though."

"Well you are really pretty."

"thanks." She gave Armin a soft smile.

"We should start heading back, Eren's probably worried about us being gone."
