Chapter 14; Because I'm Taken

Liam

My mother has invited Olivia over to dinner tonight. My sister Rachel is visiting for a few days and she is, and I quote "dying to meet the lovely Olivia Greene." I just hope Rachel doesn't decide to share embarrassing stories. I have way too many, it might kill me.

Livvy arrived at my flat around half six. She was dressed casually, yet she still looked classy. She was dressed in a coral coral colored strapless dress, I believe it is called a High-Low. The dress had a creme colored braided belt that went perfectly around her waist and she wore a pair of creme colored sandals. Her hair was in it's naturally wavy/curly state which was thrown over her right shoulder. Her makeup was done very naturally as usual. She looked gorgeous.

"Hello love." I said as I opened up the front door, she beamed up at me and placed a light, sweet kiss to my lips. She was so gentle with me, she is like a daisy, so delicate and dainty.

"Hi." She said with a smile.

"You look beautiful." I stated.

"Thanks." She said as a blush crept upon her cheeks. Olivia's the cutest.

"Come on in milady." I said motioning for her to come inside.

Olivia

"Hi Olivia, it's so great to meet you. I'm Rachel." Liam's sister said, wrapping me in a hug, She seems very friendly.

"It's nice to meet you as well." I said smiling at her.

"Liam has told me so much about you."

"Oh, really now?" I said turning my head to look at Liam. He was hanging his head but I could see he was blushing.

"Dinner is ready." Liam's mother called from the dining room.

We were having a very lovely dinner. Liam's mother had made lemon peppered fish and it was quite delicious. We all shared many laughs. Rachel was so friendly, well actually all of them were. They're just such a happy little family.

"So how about your family Olivia, what are they like?" Rachel asked. Everyone went silent. Liam's father cleared his throat, attempting to ease some of the tension.

"Well, my father um.. he was in the army, he died during battle. My mother, she died not that long ago actually. She had gotten sick and she just didn't care, it just got so bad it killed her. My uncle, Simon took us into his custody. Us as in, my sister Pamela and I. Simon's pretty cool actually. Umm... yeah."

"Oh dear, I'm sorry. How old is your sister? I'd love to meet her one day." She said.

"She's ten, her birthday will be next week actually. May I be excused for a moment?" I said, Liam's father nodded in understanding. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes.

Liam

"Did I say something wrong?" Rachel asked, giving me a confused expression. I shook my head.

"No, it's just.. erm... her sister, she's currently in a coma." I said quietly.

"Oh God, the poor girl. What happened?"

"She was hit by a car. They did surgery but it put her in a comatose state. She's been out for three weeks, she was supposed to wake up withing a few days but that didn't happen."

Olivia

I heard a knocking in the bathroom door. "Hey, it's Rachel. May I come in?" Ruth asked, opening the door slightly.

"Uh, sure." I said wiping my eyes.

"I apologize, I didn't know. I'm so sorry. I probably just ruined your night I mean-"

"No, no this night has been amazing. It's just that I just realized she may not be awake for her birthday." I said, Rachel wrapped me in a hug.

"It's alright, She'll be fine. Just watch." Rachel said hugging me tighter.

"Thanks." I said hugging her back. Rachel has to be the sweetest person I've ever met.
