I walk with my boxes up to the door. I try to open it but can't. Owen pulls the nob for me.
"Thanks." I mumble
"No prob! Looks like you had your hands full." He chuckles and I walk inside. The house is pretty nice... And big. I look out the giant glass window of the living room. The yard is pretty much nothing, but it's close to the beach. I walk past the living room and head for the stairs.
"That's where your rooms going to be Liv! Upstairs next to Owens! Your mother and I's is just around the corner." Dad smiles and I just nod walking up the creaky stairs. Like I care where you and mom are.
I find my room and see that it's empty. Just a nice window bed and desk. I set my boxes down and open one, pulling out my radio. Yep, my radio is life! If I could, I would just sit there in my room listening to it. After I find a good station I start to hang up some of my old posters and find Emily's blue box.
That's right! I was supposed to open it once I got here! I pull off the wrapping paper and open it. Inside there is a note along with a necklace. It said:
"Liv-
I hope you are already having a good time in your new home. If not, I hope this'll cheer you up :)! Miss you already!
~Emily <3
P.S I'm already wearing mine!"
I cry a little bit and pull out the silver necklace. It's the shape of America with a heart marked on California and Kansas. In the middle letters are engraved on it saying: "Just because you are far away doesn't mean our friendship is". That's so sweet. I put it on and promise myself to never take it off.
I decide to walk over to Owens room to see how he's doing. When I walk in he's already got his bed up and everything! It's already a messy teenage boys bedroom.
"Hey." I say quietly
"Hey." He replies
"I was wondering if you wanted to take a break and come to the beach with me? We could ride our bikes."
"Sure. It'll be like when we were little kids! I'll meet you downstairs in about five?"
"Okay" I reply and head back to my room. Don't count on me being ready, it takes me forever to find what to wear! Digging through all my boxes I look for my teal swimsuit. All I find is my bright pink bikini which I hate. Bikinis show my boobs too much! And I have bigger ones for my age. I guess this will have to do. I slip on a white strapless shirt and some shorts over it. Then I pull my dark curls back into a messy bun and slip on my sunglasses and flip flops.
After I'm all ready I run down the stairs. Owen is already standing by the door waiting for me in his trunks. He thinks he's going to attract girls going shirtless with his "six pack". Though if he wasn't my brother, I'd maybe have a crush on him.
"What took you so long?" He asks "it's been twenty minutes!"
"Sorry. And no it's been like ten." I reply. "Anyways lets go." We holler to mom and dad that we're leaving and walk outside.
As we ride off on our bikes thoughts go through my head. I hope I can make a few new friends. I know Owen will, he's a lady's man. Just another new experience right? I just hope it goes well.
