Vegas leaned against it, his breath shallow, chest rising and falling like waves crashing in panic. He couldn't move. He couldn't look.
What if he's not here? What if this was just another hallucination from sleep deprivation and heartbreak? What if..."What if this was another false lead?"what if he looks at me and doesn't want me anymore?
But then...He swallowed thickly and slowly turned around...
And there he was. His sunshine.

.Sleeping soundly in the bed, swallowed in blankets like a precious little bun.One bare leg thrown lazily out from under the comforter. His cheek half-buried in the pillow, hair tousled, lips slightly parted.
Vegas felt something inside him collapse.
Like his lungs remembered how to breathe again.
Like his heart, once cracked and bleeding, had been kissed and stitched back together with the sights of Pete...
He took one slow, reverent step after another, as if approaching a shrine. As if one loud breath could make this dream disappear.
Vegas's knees gave out.
He sank to the floor beside the bed, trembling.
His fingers gently cradled Pete's foot, as if it were a holy artifact.

His hand reached for Pete's foot gently, like it was made of porcelain, and he kissed it-softly, tenderly, like it was holy. He was afraid it would vanish the second he blinked.
"I missed you, sunshine," he whispered, voice trembling. His tears slid down, warm and quiet, and splashed gently onto Pete's skin.
Pete stirred faintly, and the blanket slipped off his shoulders, pooling softly around his hips.
Vegas's eyes widened-
And then froze.
And the blanket slid down his body, pooling at his waist.
