Songfic: Rodney Adkins- Watching You

Daddy! America x Son! Reader: Watchin' you

(Not the whole song, even though it is kinda short.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ Driving through town, just my boy and me
with a Happy Meal in his booster seat
knowing that he couldn't have the toy 'til his nuggets were gone ~
Alfred  was driving down the road, with his son sitting in his booster seat next to him in his dirty truck. The little boy, (Name), had a bright smile on his face. Alfred did too, a father seeing his son smile like that... It was the greatest thing in his world.
~ A green traffic light turned straight to red,
I hit my brakes and mumbled under my breath. His fries went a-flying and his orange drink covered his lap ~
Suddenly,  the green light turned to red, being a little bit of an airhead,  he didn't notice right away. His foot slammed down on the breaks. Mumbling a curse under his breath.
~ Well, then my four-year-old said a four letter word. That started with "s" and I was concerned. So I said, "Son, now where'd you learn to talk like that?" ~
"Shit!" His four year old son cried. Alfred froze up, and turned his head to look at the boy.
"(Name)! Where did you learn that?" He asked amazed.
~ He said, "I've been watching you, dad. Ain't that cool? I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you, and eat all my food and grow as tall as you are. We got cowboy boots and camo pants. Yeah, we're just alike. Hey, ain't we, dad? I wanna do everything you do. So I've been watching you." ~
"I learned from you dad," he looked up at him with the most innocent expression. Alfred looked up at the traffic light and seen the colors change once again,  signalling him to move forward.  "I wanna be just like you dad! You're my hero! We have to same clothes, hair cut, and eyes. I wanna do everything you do. Because I've been working hard to be like you." He said, his blue eyes shined with admiration.
Alfred rubbed his son's (h/c) hair, and smiled softly, "Thank you (Nickname)." He was almost home, taking a turn down a dirt road, his house came into view. Their family barn finally looked brand new. The house repainted a fresh white. The screen door opened and out came a average height woman with (h/c) hair, and (e/c) orbs. A gentle smile on her face.
He pulled up, turned the car off, unbuckled, and opened his door, his son unbuckled and waited for his mother to get him. She opened the side door, holding out her arms. "Young man, you need to clean yourself off. You smell like Hi-C Orange!" She chuckled, holding him in her arms.
"Yes mom! Then can we play together?" He asked hopeful.
"Sure," she paused, "now go take a bath!" She laughed and let the child run to the bathroom. Alfred walked over to her and hugged her tightly. "What's wrong Al?" She hugged back.
"I'm so stupid... (Nickname) told me I'm his hero." He said.
"Well, that makes two of us then... You're my hero too Alfred F. Jones."
He smiled and kissed her softly, "now lets go inside, dinner still has to be made. Even though you got him a happy meal." She playfully punched his shoulder and walked hand in hand to the house.
~ Then this side of bedtime later that night. Turning on my son's Scooby Doo nightlight. He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees. He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands, and spoke to God like he was talking to a friend, and I said, "Son, now where'd you learn to pray like that?" ~
Once the sun went down, and the moon was shinning high up in the sky. "Dad, can you tuck me in?" Both of them looked down and the sleepy child, he had laid with his mother, and she rested against Alfred. All snuggled together, watching a movie.
They smiled, "of course." Alfred got up and his son opened his arms and he swiftly carried him up to his room. Al turned on the light and laid him on his bed. "Goodnight, (Nickname)." He kissed his forehead, and walked over to his nightlight and flicked it on. Turning off his room light, before Al could close the door, (Name) got out of his bed, and got on his knees, closing his hands together. His eyes shut, he was praying. Alfred stood there shocked, before he quickly joined his son. "Amen." They both said in hushed tones.
"Kiddo, where did you learn how to do that?" Al asked, "I'm so proud of you."
"I told you before dad." He said with a soft smile.
~ He said, "I've been watching you, dad. Ain't that cool? I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you, and eat all my food and grow as tall as you are. We got cowboy boots and camo pants. Yeah, we're just alike. Hey, ain't we, dad? I wanna do everything you do. So I've been watching you." ~
"I wanna be just like you." Alfred smiled, with misty eyes, hugging him tightly.
"My little hero is growing up so fast."
~ He said, "But when I'm big I'll still know what to do." ~
"When I get bigger,  I'll know what to do dad." He said softly,  hugging him back.
" 'Cause I've been watching you, dad. Ain't that cool? I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you, and eat all my food and grow as tall as you are. By then I'll be strong as Superman. We'll be just alike. Hey, won't we, dad? When I can do everything you do, 'cause I've been watching you." ~
"Because I've watched you work hard dad,  we like holding mom's hand, we have the same personalities, and we love mom with all our heart. When I'm big, I can be the same as you." He said, still smiling.
"Young man, you better be in that bed before I come in there." A feminine voice joked from down the hall.
"Ack! Better do as she says, (Name)." Alfred stated, carrying him back to bed.  Pulling the blankets over him.
"I love you dad."
"I love you too,  my little hero."
"Mommy loves you too." She whispered from the doorway. Soon the little boy fell asleep.
