Seiko's P.O.V
Floor boards creeked, whispers from the unknown on the other side of the hallway send shivers down our spines, heavy breathing from the individuals staring hard at Morishige. His dirtied hands grip the long piece of wood, pointing the sharpest part towards Yoshiki. His eyes gazed over all of us as we stood there in utter shock. He is extremely cautious of every move we decide to make, last time we moved towards him, he moved a step back to a ginormous hole in the hallway. The one where Satoshi fell victim to it, engulfed by the darkness and not too sure of the perilous depth of the hole. To afraid to even think about it, I try to refrain myself from elaborating more on it. The current situation grew intense as Morishige gulped hard and looked down behind him, he looked unsure and we were uncertain of his next moves. "Mo-Morishige...Why?" I quietly stuttered just enough for him to hear my shaky voice. "Shinohara...Always a good student, loved by her peers and form tutor even though her actions are sometimes misleading and questionable. Nevertheless, you are always supportive and enthusiastic." He spoke calmly as he totally bypassed my question.
"Morishige, Mayu wouldn't want this, she's gonna wake up to find out that her best friend..." Yoshiki's voice came to a halt. "Please Morishige, she needs you and you need her." Naomi added. "His face dropped into a slumped expression. His red eyes looked up at us. He lowered his weapon and dropped it to the ground with a hard thump. "Is she really ok? I was so angry and I kinda lost it, I kept denying a lot of stuff during the time in here." Morishige spoke whilst rubbing his irritated eyes. "Yes, she's okay, she passed out a while back so I've been carrying her. We ran into some trouble before we met up." Yoshiki answered him. "Come on." Yoshiki spoke gently as he held out his hand towards him. Still hesitant, Morishige slowly inches his hand towards Yoshiki's. He eventually grips his hand and moves a few steps forward. He let's go and whisper "I'm sorry" as he makes his way past towards his best friend. He starts sniffling as he comes near her, he rubs his eyes one last time before kneeling down next towards her. He softly puts his hand on her forehead and moves it up to her hair, stroking it lightly as he evidently weeped. I moved steadily towards Morishige and knelt down on one knee, I then put my hand on his shoulder, the vibrations he was giving off was an abundant amount.
He turned his head swiflty to face me, his face expressed contently. His glasses steamed up with the heat rising up from his cheeks. He took his hand away from her and placed it underneath her back and his other arm underneath her legs. Morishige then proceeded to pick her up, he manouvered her body to fit perfectly in his arms. I glanced at her motionless face, her limp arm that hung down by her side, swinging to and fro. I began to notice something odd, something not right. Her index finger on the arm that swung down, began to twitch irratically and then stopped. Naomi, whom of which was standing next to me, also looked in the same direction I was. She hid her slight gasp behind her hand. She's...moving! Morishige stared in confusion, he eventually got the idea that we were looking at Mayu and not him. "What's wrong?" He frowned. "Her finger, it started moving!" I pointed towards her hand. I looked up at her face, studying it to check for any slight movements. Moments later, her eyelids fluttered and began to open. "Ma-Mayu!" Morishige stuttered as he stared wide-eyed. She groaned and fluttered her eyelids a few more times.
"Morishige." She yawned before her mouth curved into a delicate smile. He had the slightest redness in his cheeks, never seen before. I grinned before looking next to me at Naomi, she was smiling from ear to ear at this. "Are you ok Mayu? You're not hurt, right?" Morishige questioned slightly. "Yes! Now I am!" She blushed also. She jumped out of his arms and stood next to him before grabbing his arm, pushing her head into it. "Can you walk ok?" Morishige asked. "Stop worrying. I'm ok, but thank you!" She answered honestly. "Well I think we should get moving soon." Yoshiki interrupted before he started to head off by himself down the narrow hallway, the way we came from when we bumped into Sachiko. "Are you sure we should go back there, I mean, we all just narrowly escaped our possible demises." Naomi argued. "Well jumping over that hole isn't really an option unless you wanna risk it again." Yoshiki argued back. Naomi let out a cold sigh before turning towards me and resting her forehead on my shoulder. I wrapped my arm around her, gently stroking her back with my thumb. I kissed the top of her head, raised an eyebrow up at Yoshiki and awaited for an answer.
He only shrugged his shoulders at me. "Maybe we should try going back there, maybe she isn't there anymore." I urged. "We could try, its better than any other idea we have so far." Yoshiki spoke back. Ms Yui looks up at Yoshiki and starts to speak. "Well if we're going, I would prefer it if at least two of us had mobile phones with a light on to guide us through the halls." Ms Yui put in. Yoshiki frantically searches both sides of his school jacket pockets before giving up hopelessly. I turn to Morishige who normally has his phone on him. He tends to take a lot of photos of random stuff, banners and posters as such. "Yes! I have one on me but...it only has four percent battery left, this place isn't exactly running with electricity ports so I can freely charge it. We'll have to conserve it properly or else we'll be walking in the dark all over again." Morishige warned. "Alright, all set. Let's go." Yoshiki marched on in front, leading the way with with Morishige next to him, Mayu clinging tightly onto his arm. Ms Yui walked next to me with a slight sense of unease in her expression. I walked behind the three in front with Naomi next to me, she grabbed my hand sternly and pushed her body into mine. I blushed slightly even though she couldn't see it. Suddenly, Morishige's phone started to flicker. He frantically started to lightly smack it against the palm of his hand until it responded properly.
Behind me, swift footsteps tapped the floor, giving some shivers down my spine. Unexpectedly, little children began to laugh demonically in the far distance. Everyone stopped and exchanged glances with one another. I felt someone breathe down my neck, my hairs stood on end. The feeling of multiple beings, an evil atmosphere filled the hallway of which we all stood in. "Sei-Seiko!" Naomi whispered with evident fright in her voice. Morishige spun towards us and shone the bright light into our eyes, I hissed at him. "Sorry Shinohara! I thought I heard something behind you." He apologised. He pointed his light down at the floor and that's when things began to deteriorate drastically. His light flickered once again to which he tapped it violently, hoping for it to start working again, we all stared as our last hope was snuffed out like a flame. It no longer provided us with comfort and an asset for our survival, more voices sounded in the distance, this time they got closer. "What do we do? Mayu asked in a frightened tone. Children began to laugh again, right behind us it sounded like. I gripped Naomi's body closer to mine, she buried her head into my neck. "Seiko...I'm scared!" Naomi mumbled as she hid in my neck. "Why won't... you play with us." "Onee-chan...I'm lonely." These are the calls of the damned, don't listen to them!" Morishige shouted. My eyes grew wide with shock as I saw black figures in the distance, each one with a glowing red outline, they moved in a line, one step every two seconds. Children! They're children! "We-We need to get the hell out of here, like now!." I screamed. I swiftly turned around to run but was obstructed by more of these figures of small children. "Onee-san...You can't leave yet, we only just started."
