When I woke up the next morning, I heard my cell phone ringing.
"Hello?" I said into the receiver.
"Hi, Anna, um, this is... Rob Silvesti. I just wanted to say-"
"Just stop calling me, Rob!" I yelled and threw my phone at the wall, angrily. How did he get my number? Who told him? I thought.
"Mom! Come here right now, we have to talk!" I yelled upstairs.
"Alright, Anna, I'm coming," Mom said as she heaved herself up the stairs.
She walked into my room and sat on the bed. As soon as she sat down, it creaked loudly, and she giggled, "Whoops..."
"What's up?" she asked, snapping out of her "creak joke" as soon as I gave her one of my looks.
"Did you by any chance talk to Rob Silvesti?" I asked.
"Yes, he called the house and I answered it. That young man is very polite," she said, "Why? Is something wrong?"
"Yes! You know what he did to me, so why would you even think of giving him my number?!" I yelled, jumping up.
Mom grabbed my shoulders and gently pushed me back down on the bed and said, "Anna, I'm sorry."
"Wow. Your sorry. That's all you say is 'I'm sorry'?"
"Anna, I really am sorry. He called and asked for your number and I gave it to him."
"I can't believe you would do that. I just can't believe it," I said as I pushed her arms away and walked out of the room.
I ran down the stairs and outside. I just kept running and running. I ran to the small clubhouse in the backyard.
The yellow paint was chipping and it was overgrown with weeds, but whenever I went there, I got this calm feeling.
I looked around at the worn-out couch and leaky kitchen. I walked into the little bedroom and sat on the bed and cried. The tears streamed down my face, feeling warm, then cool, then warm again.
I heard someone walking towards the house. I quickly wiped my face with my jacket and stood up.
"Who is it?" I said, trembling. When nobody answered, I tip- toed over to the door, and stuck my head out.
