The city was quiet as I trudged along the sidewalks towards my destination. I was honestly more paranoid then I felt I had reason to be, but after that message I just couldn't shake this feeling of dread.
I realized I was being ridiculous and tried to just shake it off, but that was much harder than I anticipated. I kept seeing shapes moving in the shadows and hearing whispers of something I didn't understand.
"There's nothing there" I reassured myself. " I'm just tired and delusional"
As I thought this, I felt something run behind me and my shirt fluttered in the slight breeze.
I turned around in a flash but I didn't see anything there.
"It's just the wind, it's only the wind, I just have an overactive imagination because of that stupid message."I kept telling myself this but I could tell it wasn't working. I began to walk faster and faster as my fear grew but the faster I walked the more creatures I saw. I quickly broke into a sprint as I began to hear their cries and the footsteps of hideous beasts following close behind.
My breathing began to get heavy as I pushed my body more but I refused to stop. If I stopped they would catch up and I couldn't begin to imagine what would happen then.
I got more tired and my muscles began to burn but I kept my speed as they screamed behind me. More followed as I became an easier target.
At this rate I was only ten or so minutes from my home. I needed to get back, if I could get there I would be safe.
As my breathing became increasingly labored, my body began to shut down. My legs began to falter and my arm began to flail. I could see what was happening but I could do nothing about it.
I began stumbling as I tried to keep ahead of these demons but it was a lost cause. I began to fall slowly and as I fell for the last time, I didn't see any creatures at all.
