Sunday watched the galaxy and its stars shining outside the ship from the window. The Milky Way danced along the sky with its purple and yellow shimmers. He had seen the sky before from Penacony, but that was only the stars. Sunday never thought in his years he would see a view like this. Nevertheless, he smiled at it, finding it a beautiful sight.
"Hm?"
His wings perked at some music playing behind him. The once quiet room had this soft, gently music playing, almost like a music box. Curious yet enamored by this tune, Sunday turned around, and his eyes widened in surprise to see he was not alone anymore in the passenger car.
Stelle was in the room, putting on some music on the phonograph. She started slow dancing to it, positioning her arms with one higher and the other lower. Sunday at first found it confusing.
But when she started moving her feet to the music, he realized that this dance was for two people. She was having her hands around her imaginary partner and swaying with them. Stelle didn't even bother to see if anyone was in the same car as her. She just went in and started playing the music.
Nevertheless, Sunday chuckled quietly, finding it amusing how she didn't notice his presence. That might be good for him, though, because then he could enjoy this quiet performance by himself.
She gently hummed along the music, twirling around the room as her hands moved along. Her timing with the movement wasn't perfect, but there was some grace to it. Sunday wondered if this was something she did every night. Waiting for everyone to be out of the passenger car so she could be the solo dancer of her own secret performance.
He would've done the same thing. Music was always a treasure to him. A gift passed to him by his mother. And with dancing, they work well together. Actually, Sunday couldn't remember the last time he danced along with the music. Maybe as a child. But he strangely found himself longing for that now that he saw his former enemy now turned friend dancing mindlessly.
"Oh! Hey there, Sunday!"
He was so deep in his thoughts that he didn't pay attention to Stelle's eyes opening and spotting the Halovian at the window, watching her. Sunday looked at her blinking and startled. The wings on his head stood up alert before they relaxed, lowering themselves.
Stelle rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, slightly embarrassed that she was caught. He was so quiet that she didn't spot him earlier. She thought to herself that she should've looked around more thoroughly than that. "I didn't see ya there. Have you been there the whole time?" She asked him, reaching to the phonograph to stop the music.
Sunday's eyes caught her hand moving towards it, and without hesitation, he instantly reached out and grabbed her wrist. Gentle enough not to hurt it but firm enough to stop it.
"Huh? Um, Sunday?" She looked at him, confused and a bit surprised. Sunday himself was also surprised that he did that. But he just missed this kind of moment so much. He wanted to feel it again.
"I-It is alright, Stelle." He assured her, surprised to hear himself stutter. Was it because she was here, he wondered. Whatever the reason, the Halovian would figure it out later. Right now, he wanted to relive this moment.
"Stelle." He said her name, looking st her yellow eyes firmly. They had the same shine as the milky way he was admiring. She looked back at him curiously and glanced down when she felt something brushing her skin. His hand had moved from her wrist and down to her hand, holding it.
"May I have this dance?" He offered her, standing back to give her some space but not letting go of her hand. The music was still playing in the quiet passenger car, yet there was still this silence between them.
Stelle looked at him, surprise, blinking a few times. She didn't expect that. Nevertheless, Stelle smiled at him, kind of feeling happy he asked her. "Sure thing!" She beamed at him, making him blink in surprise.
Sunday always found her to be odd sometimes. But that's what made her unique to him. One moment, she can be surprise and embarrassed. And then, the next moment, she can be excited and eager.
Smiling at her softly, he pulled her a little closer and positioned his hands with one on her shoulder and the other around her waist. Stelle glanced her eyes away from him, slightly blushing. It felt very formal right now.
Sunday took the first steps, using his arm around her waist to guide Stelle in the dance. The trailblazer was surprised by how well he moved with the rhythm of the music. But seeing how he loved theater and drama and his sister being a singer, she assumed maybe he might have learned some forms of dancing.
"Ow!" Stelle blinked out of her thoughts when his face winced. She then felt her foot stepping on something, and when she glanced down, her eyes widened to find that it was his foot. "Sorry!" She exclaimed, smiling awkwardly at him.
Sunday chuckled at her, glancing up at her. "It's ok. It's worth it if it means I get to dance with you." He reasoned gently, smiling at her. "Really? Even if I'm not the best dancer?" She teased him, her hand gently brushing up his shoulder.
"I think you dance pretty decent, miss Stelle." He responded to her with no teasing in his tone. Stelle smiled at him as they kept swaying around the passenger car, this time with no feet being stepped on, staring at his eyes as they danced beneath the milky way. Maybe she should keep doing this more often with Sunday on board.
