Chapter 7: Back to school!

(Dragoon here! As promised the new chapter!  A new character will appear in this one.  He actually plays an important part in this book so he needs to be in the chapter. If your wondering refer to the book summary! Ok enjoy!)

If you're wondering, the rest of Jim's birthday was quite boring. His parents wouldn't let him out of their sight, so we (including my family and Plank's family) went to a little restaurant and ate a meal there.  The rest of the time we laid around Jim's house, bored out of our minds.

"You ready to start up school again?" I asked, getting into bed as Jim curled up into a ball.  He nodded as his tail thumped against the bed excitedly.  I nodded and slid up beside him as my tail curled around Jim's, holding it down as he snuggled up to me.  I wrapped my arms around him as we welcomed the warm embrace of sleep.

"Ugh" I whined as the shrill screaming of the alarm woke me up.  Reaching out blindly, I swatted the air helplessly, trying to find the alarm clock.  My hand harshly hit the corner of the clock, making me wince as I moved my arm to try to hit the snooze button head on with my hand.  I finally succeeded in hitting the button as Jim started to stretch, laying down.  Not concerning himself that his head was on my chest, he reached up in stretching his arms out, punching me under the jaw.  I groaned in pain as Jim shot up in a sitting position, fretting over me and apologizing cause he didn't watch where he was. 

"Don't worry about it.  It didn't hurt too much.  It just took me by surprise, that's all" I shrugged.  Jim eyed me carefully before nodding, hopping off the bed and went into the bathroom for a shower.  Robyn came out of her room and eyed Jim before looking in my room to see me still on my bed, staring at her.

"Jim I'd run into the bathroom and have a shower before HE get to it first.  If you want hot water instead of freezing that is," she stated, jabbing her thumb at me when she said he.  Jim smiled and nodded, before darting into the bathroom and shutting the door after him.

"Why'd ya do that?  He has been here many times before and after my 18th birthday to know this!" I exclaimed at my sister. 

"He also rarely showers here thanks to you.  He always goes home to do so!  Usually X or I am in there when he wants one.  He may be your mate Manic but he still doesn't know how freaking long you take in the damn shower.  Oh! He's out so it's your turn!" She replied as she walked off to the kitchen.  I sighed and went to the bathroom as the door opened.  Jim stood there with a pair of baggy jeans and a black hoodie on as he walked out of the doorways so I could get in. 

I got in the bathroom, striding over to the bathtub and turning the shower head on as I stepped in the warm blast of water.  I washed my hair like usual. I glanced at my tail, half of it was covered in fur.  Actually no, now that I look at it all of it was covered in teal fur. Daddy said my tail was strange.  I was the first halfling to have fur on their tail, ever.  I was told that when I was born, my tail looked like everyone else's: arrow head at the tip and scales not fur covered it.  My tail was strange, it was covered in fur with a tuft of fur at the tip.  I swayed my tail back and forth to watch a stream of water fly off the tuft and hit the shower curtain then the wall.  I poured some specialized fur shampoo that papa got for me and started to get to work on washing my tail.  Luckily my wings weren't covered in fur as well, or washing them would be a hassle. My wings were a little different as well. Unlike a batwing type of wing that I was born with; the wings I had were more see-through and instead of having a thumb-like appendage, I had a whole functional working hand on it. When I folded my wings close to me, it looked like I had two sheets attached to me. It was weird to walk around like that. My wings were bigger than my family's were though. Papa told me that I was special and to accept it as it was. I still wonder about why I look like this though.
