"Turning Page" – Sleeping at Last

*****************************************************************************************

Three Years Later

The estate stretched across acres of green land, hidden beyond tall iron gates and ancient trees that guarded it like silent sentinels. The outside world was loud, restless, unpredictable.

But here, there was peace.

Exactly how Arjun wanted it.

Inside the house, life moved with a quiet warmth.

Morning sunlight spilled through the tall glass windows, bathing the marble floors in soft gold. The scent of fresh coffee lingered in the air, mixing with the jasmine blooming outside the balcony.

And above everything else—

Laughter.

Bright and carefree.

"Aryana!"

The little girl's laughter filled the halls as she ran across the living room while their golden retriever, Leo, chased after her like an enthusiastic partner in crime.

"Leo, no cheating!" Aryana shouted between giggles. "You promised!"

Leo barked happily and darted around the oversized sofa before disappearing behind the dining table.

From the kitchen doorway, Anaya watched the chaos with a soft smile.

One hand rested on the counter while the other gently held the curve of her stomach.

Six months pregnant.

The morning light wrapped around her like a quiet blessing.

Three years ago, she never imagined her life would look like this.

Not after everything that happened.

Not after the silence that once stood between them like a wall.

"She definitely got your energy," Anaya said softly.

Across the room, Arjun sat at the dining table with his laptop open. But he hadn't typed a single word in the last ten minutes.

His attention was completely on his daughter.

He slowly closed the laptop.

"No," he said quietly. "She got you in her heart."

Anaya rolled her eyes, but a shy smile betrayed her.

There were too many memories between them now.

Too many scars that had finally healed.

Too much love that had survived everything.

Aryana soon came running toward them again, slightly breathless.

"Daddy!" she exclaimed as she climbed straight into Arjun's lap. "Leo is cheating again."

Arjun chuckled and kissed the top of her curly hair.

"Then next time," he whispered playfully, "cheat smarter."

Aryana burst into laughter and jumped down again, running back to continue her game with Leo.

Anaya watched them quietly.

Her husband.

Her daughter.

Her home.

For a moment, emotion tightened in her chest.
