"Come on. Don't be shy. Say hello. Surry, this is your new brother. Adrian, your new sister, Surry." Mom said kindly and she gestured between me and the boy with lemon hair. His blue eyes showed uncertainty and he decided whether or not to take my outstretched hand.

"Hi. I'm Surry. Yes, it is a weird name, but I am Surry." I chirped excitedly. I was finally going to have a brother. A brother! I've always envied Lola and her two siblings. While they always think of games to play together, I'm stuck with the TV and some toys I di
dn't even know how to play.

Mom continued, "Adrian is 7, a year older than you Sur." A brother who's almost like my twin! Now I don't have to call Lola and her sisters over every time I want to play hide-and-seek anymore. I grinned at him. His face turned a little funny before he cracked up. Why? What's wrong?

"Y-you," Adrian choked between giggles, "You have chocolate smeared all over your teeth! Eww! Aren't girls supposed to be girly and super-clean?"

"You're dumb. Aren't boys supposed to be smart?" I shot back sarcastically. Mom sighed and shook her head at both of us. "You guys, please. This time I'm going to let it go, but from now on, be nice to each other! Okay, guys?" She patted us on our heads a little before heading out.

I frowned at the boy next to me. "Sorry." I said reluctantly. I want to be a good girl. Adrian looked a little taken aback, though. Then slowly, a grin tugged at his lips before turning into a wide smile, showing really cute dimples. "Apology accepted."

"Hey! You're not going to say sorry too?"

"Why should I?" A smirk. "You already said sorry. If one person apologize and the other accept it, it's counted as fair."

"It's not! You started it first!!" I whined.

"Yes, but I'm just stating a fact. What fact did you find to say that I'm dumb, huh?" He raised an eyebrow.

My nostrils flared. I lost.

He laughed. "Okay, fine. I figured if we were to be sisters and brothers for long, we should start off good, eh?"

"Uh-huh."

"Sorry, then." He definitely wasn't sorry, but then mom came back. Smiling. "So...did you guys have fun and be nice to each other?"

"Yes, mom."

"No, mom." I elbowed him in the ribs and he clenched his fists in pain before faking a smile. "Yes, mom."

"Very good, then. Lunch will be in an hour. You guys can go have some fun."

I turned to the walking lemon beside me. My eyes twinkled.

"So, do you play hide-and-seek?"
