Five years ago
A short, slightly pudgy girl with silky blonde hair clutched at her mother's hand. A taller, more slender and more graceful girl stood aside, checking her fingernails and sighing from boredom.
"Mummy," The younger of the two whined, "I don't want to go. I'll miss you so much..."
Her mother's pinched lips widened slightly into the touch of a smile, "I'll miss you too, honey. But I promise you're going to have so much fun at school that you won't want to come home."
The young girl whispered, "How can you know that?"
The graceful woman leant down beside her daughter, "Just look at how much Victorie enjoys it. And everyone will be incapable of not falling in love with you."
A young Dominique Weasley glanced across at her sister, "But Victorie is so... perfect."
Victorie twirled her hair around a finger as she giggled at their adopted cousin, Teddy Lupin.
"And so are you!" Fleur exclaimed. "Now, Dominique, don't make me force you onto that train. I'll write to you every day, okay?"
Dominique turned her large crystal eyes towards her mother, "Every day? Do you promise?"
Her mother smiled gently, "Of course. I love you, Dominique." She pulled her daughter into a warm hug.
Dominique mumbled into her mother's white blonde hair, "I love you too." Before she was whisked away by the crowd and up into the scarlet train. She peered out the window, reaching her small hands towards her mother's retreating figure as she blinked away tears.
She wandered along the train, searching for her cousins, who she could sit with. Eventually she found Freddy Weasley, Rose Weasley and James Potter, who were also in her year, sitting in a compartment with their friend Luke Woods.
Dominique carefully opened the door before she beamed at her cousins, convincingly hiding the fear that possessed her heart.
"Hey guys! I'm super excited we're finally going!" She exclaimed and squished herself between Rose and James.
James chuckled, "Yeah. My Dad got on the quidditch team within his first few months at Hogwarts, but Freddy and I reckon we can beat him."
Freddy smirked, "We'll be going to try-outs next week."
Rose laughed at the two boys, "Good luck. You better not be disappointed if you don't get in. Teams are so competitive."
James rolled his eyes, "You don't know what you're talking about, Rosie."
Dom's eyebrows furrowed, "And you think that you do? Just because Teddy mentioned a few things, doesn't make you an expert on Hogwarts. I have a sister here, too."
Dom smiled kindly at Rose, who tentatively returned it.

Earlier that day
Rose trailed behind her cousins as they piled into a muggle car and headed off for King's Cross Station.
Her mother called out to her, "Rosie! Hurry up, we don't want to be late."
Her father chuckled, "The train waits – "
" – for no one. Yeah, Dad, we know." Rose sighed.
James nudged Freddy with her elbow, "Someone's in a bad mood..."
Rose flashed the boys a fiery glance, but was too preoccupied to offer a verbal response.
She squished in alongside her younger brother and her Aunt Angelina pulled the door closed behind her.
