Dominique awoke the next morning feeling positive. In fact, she felt free. She felt as though a burden - Luke - had finally been lifted, and she was free to do as she pleased. She didn't have to think about how jealous he got every time she talked to another boy, she didn't have to worry if he would think she looked good in a lace bra, she didn't have to pretend to like his other friends, or to be interested in Quidditch. She was free.

With this positive state of mind, Dom slipped out of bed and dressed in a light t-shirt and denim shorts, ready for the weekend. Despite it being about ten, the other two girls were still in bed, so she snatched a magazine off her dresser and slipped down to the Great Hall, ready for a peaceful breakfast by herself.

She arrived, lost in thought and mindlessly sat down at the end of a table. She served herself a measured portion of fruit salad and tipped yoghourt on top. Sighing happily, she flipped open the magazine and absentmindedly began eating her breakfast.

Unbeknownst to the blissful Dominique, Rose had entered the Great Hall looking flushed and trying to quell a large smile. She spotted Dom, and headed over to sit beside her friend, a bounce in her step.

"Hey, Dominique!" She chirped, grabbing herself a slice of toast.

Dom's good mood faltered as she recalled the priority Rose had picked the night before, "Rose."

"Hey," She said, a sweetly questioning tone in her words, "what's up?"

Dominique sighed, "I was enjoying a peaceful breakfast... I don't really want to talk about this right now."

Rose frowned, "What? What happened? Did I do something wrong?"

Dom flipped closed her magazine, and looked Rose in the eyes, "What do you think Rose? You left me last night. You picked a boy over me."

"What?" Rose stumbled, "I... I saw you were pretty drunk, but I asked Evelyn to look after you. I knew she wouldn't let you do anything stupid..."

Dominique frowned, "What? Don't lie, Rosie. We both know why you sent Evie over to help me, and that wasn't it."

Rose shook her head, totally confused, as Dominique stood up, picking up the magazine, "What? No! Dom, I didn't see anything. What happened? Dom!" But the other girl had already stalked off, her mood sagging into wallowing self-pity.

Rose remained seated at the table. Why did drama always happen at breakfast? She thought to herself as third year Ravenclaws nervously turned back around to face their friends and mind their own bloody business.

"Hey, Rosie Posie!" James exclaimed, taking a seat beside his cousin, "What's cracking?"

Rose frowned, taken aback, "What's produced this good mood, James? Get laid last night?"

He looked at her quizzically, "Not exactly... Didn't you go back to your dorm last night, Rose?"

Rose's head snapped back to her cousin, "How did you know that? I mean... No."

James chuckled, "Too late now!" but quickly grew serious, "What have you been doing, Rose? If I find out that you were with a boy...." he threatened.

Rose huffed, "No, James! You've ensured that no boy in the entire school is game enough to talk to me outside of class, let alone invite me back to their dormitory... Not that I would accept!"

James grinned, "Good, good. I shouldn't have worried, anyhow."

Rose scowled, her resentment of James growing by the second. She shrugged off his arm, which had been casually slung across her shoulders, and Dominique was still heavy on her mind. She stood up, preparing to leave the Hall just as Corrine arrived.
