**Friday**

Emily Rose Dallas

Where we last left off, I was making a fool of myself in front of Shawn. He doesn't even like me, which makes it even more mortifying.

The party was tonight, meaning it was also the last day of school.

Ah summer.

Summer was definitely my strong point of parties. They were always Cameron's responsibility, but since he was going to college, he wanted to give me a leg up for my senior year.

I planned on making this party my best one yet. It was at our house, so I didn't have to worry about that.

It was just me and Cameron, because our parents didn't give a shit and were never home. It didn't bother me as much as it used to, because it gets me more used to living on my own.

I was honestly hoping senior year would be the best year. I had no fucking clue what I wanted to do for my future, I just know I want to be happy with what I'm doing.

I'd arrived at school, getting a few acknowledging smiles and waves. I even got a few people telling me they were excited for the party.

I was planning on talking to Shawn about the party, even though he clearly knew about it.

Let's just hope our conversation doesn't go horribly awry like it did yesterday.

++

I heard someone faintly calling my name, drawing my attention over my shoulder.

Shawn awkwardly jogged up to me, flashing me one of his award-winning smiles.

"Hey," I tuck a piece of hair behind my ear, "what's up?"

"Well, Dallas, I wanted to talk to you about that party of yours." This is easier than I thought.

I smiled, "You came to the right person then." I mentally face palmed.

SERIOUSLY, THAT'S THE BEST YOU COULD COME UP WITH?! YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT PERSON?! REALLY EMILY?!?

"Anyways," He chuckled, flashing his bright smile towards me again, "where is it?"

"It's at mine and Cameron's house," I face palmed again, knowing that he didn't know where it was.

I gave him the address, turned around, then he sped up and tapped my shoulder.

"Yess?" I asked, dragging out the 's'.

"I was-uh wondering, if I could-uh have your number?" He asked with a hopeful smile.

"Yeah sure," I nodded, "here's my phone, put yourself in."

He took my phone, putting in his contact, then sent himself a text. When he was done, he handed it back, flashing me yet another gorgeous smile of his.

We walked in separate directions, and I face palmed for the third time, realizing that we had the same first period class.

"Hey Shawn, wait up!" I said rather loudly. He turned back to me, giving me a crooked smile.

I caught up with him, "Walk with me?"

"Of course, my dear." He mocked a British accent, holding out his arm for me to link mine with it.

"Thank you, kind sir." I spoke, my attempt at a British accent failing, then linking my arm in his.

We laughed along the way, my smile never fading.

I had it bad for this guy.

**after school**

Shawn had offered to give me a ride, but I kindly declined, knowing I'd act like more of an idiot.

I needed to wait until tonight, when I got hot. Cameron pulled up in our shared car, since we weren't able to afford two, to our house.

"You're helping me set up the party right?" I asked him, earning a nod.

"Oh come on, are you still thinking about her?" I asked him, causing him to sigh. I smiled and shook my head at him.

"Cameron, you're going into college. She's going to be a senior. I hate to say it, but you guys honestly have no chance. You know I love you Cam, but you're going to have to think about your future." I said, not trying to come off like a total bitch.

"Look, Em, you don't think I know this? When I first saw her, I knew we couldn't be something. I knew she was in your grade, and that I'd graduate before her. I knew she was too good for me. She may not be perfect, but then again, who is?" He finished off his little speech, my jaw dropping to the floor.

"Cam-I-" He cut me off.

"It's fine, Em. Let's just set up for the party, yeah?" He said, trying to drop the subject.

**6 hours later**

It was eight by the time we finished with everything, so I went upstairs to start getting ready.

I pulled out my Posh Girl hot pink chita print bandage crop top, with my black ankle length boyfriend jeans with extreme rip front. For shoes, I pulled out my pair of Christian Louboutin Daffodil black pumps.

I plugged in my pearl Remington T-Studio curling wand, getting ready to put it into bouncy, voluminous waves.

I put my hair into a messy bun, sliding my black athletic headband on to push back my baby hair's. I put on my primer, prepping my face for foundation. Once I had my foundation and concealer, I set it with a matte powder. I put on eye shadow, blush, and swiped on a few layers of Maybelline Rocket™ Mascara.

I applied some matte dark pink lipstick, putting a layer of Laura Geller liquid lipstick for shine. I rubbed my lips together, making a 'pop' sound afterwards.

When I finished my makeup, I grabbed my curling wand, wrapping a few strands around, holdind them until they cooled, then released them.

About forty five minutes later, I was done curling my hair. I looked in the mirror once more, honestly examining myself. Under the slutty outfit and pounds of makeup, I actually felt beautiful.

Please let this party go well.

I could tell my hands were shaking; I was nervous. I'd be seeing her tonight. I felt like such a girl, I was basically waiting my whole life for this day.

I'd known her for awhile, and fell for her more and more everyday. It was hard not to. She just had a personality that I was drawn to. But I could also see behind that "smile" of hers: she was broken.

How do I know this?

Because I wear the same "smile".
